“The faculty and staff here are your biggest cheerleaders… find confidence in your work through your connections because they’ll be your best references before you know it!”
Olivia Reiss, English & Theater double major, reminds us that the relationships you build on campus can shape your path in powerful ways.
From mentorship to meaningful support, faculty and staff are here to help you grow, refine your goals, and take the steps to achieve them. Don’t be afraid to reach out, build those connections, and invest in the people who are invested in you.

“Ask questions, try new things, and don’t be afraid to fail. Your first year is for exploring, not perfecting!”
Mason Mehling, Accounting and Finance double major, reminds us that your first year isn’t about having everything figured out, it’s about giving yourself the space to learn, grow, and discover what truly interests you.
As you step into classes, clubs, and new opportunities, stay curious, take chances, and trust that every experience is helping shape your path.

“As cliché as it sounds, be open to new experiences and don’t hesitate to reach out… opportunities often begin with a simple conversation.”
Vishmitha Dsouza, Business Administration and Media & Communication major, reminds us that building connections doesn’t have to be overwhelming, it starts with small, intentional steps. After getting involved on campus, Vishmitha connected with Jennifer Sarnistky, which led to an introduction to an alumna and ultimately a marketing internship she has now held for four semesters. Her experience shows how one conversation can open unexpected doors.
As you explore campus, attend events, and meet new people, take that first step. Say hello, ask questions, and don’t hesitate to ask for what you want.
