Anita, joined her preceptor from Gracedale Nursing Home on a field trip to Holy Family Senior Living to train workers to become paid feeding assistants. Here she is standing with examples of different diet textures. After completing the training herself, she is now certified to provide feeding assistance to those who need it. ,

Alison is conducting a “test tray” evaluation for a diabetic diet. To complete the evaluation, she had to measure the temperature of each food item, estimate portion sizes to ensure accurate carbohydrate counting, and complete a taste test. “Test trays” are used to make sure that the kitchen is following food safety and diet order guidelines.

Caroline created a poster board at the Center at Spring Street senior center. It will be changing monthly to educate community members on various nutrition related topics. Since February is Heart Health Month, this board is all about tips and tricks to “love your heart”!

Demetrius, at Commission on Economic Opportunity in Wilkes Barre, helped to perform this food demo at Heights Martin L. Murray Elementary School during their food assistance pickup. The demo included a “Better than Ranch Dip” served with carrots for passersby.
