Cedar Crest College proudly joins communities around the world in celebrating PRIDE Month, a time to honor the history, resilience, achievements, and ongoing contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. PRIDE is both a celebration of identity and a reminder of the importance of fostering belonging and acceptance.

This month and every month, we are proud to support, celebrate, and uplift our LGBTQ+ community. 🌈

As we celebrate this month, we would like to share a message for our community from Dr. Leon John Jr., our Vice President of Mission Integration and Strategy:

"As we celebrate PRIDE month, let us remember that PRIDE has always been about people deciding, in the face of exclusion, that they deserve to belong. Belonging is not something we grant. It is something that we protect. In this moment, when so many LGBTQ+ people are being told that their identities are up for debate, Cedar Crest’s answer is the same as it has always been: you are seen, you are valued, and you belong here."

Every year, the night before Commencement, we celebrate our graduates who have completed one of our doctoral programs during our Doctoral Hooding Ceremony! 🎓 🩺

A special evening recognizing years of dedication, hard work, and achievement as they prepare to cross the Commencement stage! ✨

When Fayth Stephenson-Houdeshel '26 graduated with two degrees, it came as no surprise to her peers at Cedar Crest. 💛 Fayth completed her Occupational Therapy Doctorate while simultaneously pursuing her MBA. "As a first-generation college graduate, earning these degrees means far more than personal achievement. It represents breaking barriers, challenging statistics, and creating new opportunities for both myself and my family’s future,” said Fayth.

"Fayth's accomplishment—earning a doctorate in occupational therapy while also earning a Master of Business Administration degree—is nothing short of amazing," says Dr. Michael Zalot, Chair of the Business Department. "We are very proud of her dual achievement, which is unprecedented here at Cedar Crest College."

Before entering healthcare, Fayth earned her bachelor's degree and United States Coast Guard License and worked aboard oil tankers, workboats, and passenger ferries. After working in a rehab setting, she was inspired to pursue her doctorate and later followed her passion for business by pursuing her MBA during her final year of the OTD program.

Congrats, Fayth, we can't wait to see what you accomplish next! ✨️🎓
