Association of Student Assistance Professionals of NJ

Professional association for SACs (Student Assistance Coordinators) in NJ. First of its kind in the US- since 1983! ASAP-NJ represents Student Assistance Coordinators of NJ as their professional association.

We are an Affiliated Special Interest Group with NJEA.

This page is to promote Student Assistance Coordinators as the school-based intervention specialists who provide services to students in need of assistance for mental health, substance abuse, and other emotional and behavioral concerns. Academic problems are often due to underlying issues such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and family problems. Schools can address these issues, but only when orchestrated by specialists who have the training, skills and certification required to provide effective and confidential prevention and intervention services. That is the SAC.
