Last week, our youth traveled to Wheaton, IL for a weeklong mission trip. Our theme for the week was “Illuminate.” Throughout the week, we discussed how we can let Jesus shine into every part of our lives so we can reflect His light to others. We had the opportunity to put this into practice as we served at the Grace and Peace Church Food Pantry in Chicago and Elim Christian Services, prepared dinner one evening for everyone on the mission trip, and participated in morning/evening program.

Over the past few months, Unleashed has been exploring what it means to be made to lead and make a difference. Our students put that into action by applying for a Go Grant to purchase items for Covenant House, a shelter serving young adults ages 18-24 experiencing homelessness in Grand Rapids.

During our overnight, students spent time shopping for needed items including women’s clothing, men’s clothing, and hygiene products.

We’ve got one more month of Unleashed before we take a break for the summer. We are wrapping up the year with an overnight, picnic, and end of year celebration. If you are in 6-12th grade, we would love to have you join us for the fun. For more information, email [email protected].
