Can you smell that? The Beast is back! 👃🌸 Grand Valley’s co**se flower is getting ready to bloom again, after last blooming in 2024.

This tropical plant emits a flesh-rotting odor to attract flies that pollinate it, giving the flower its unique name.

Want to give the rare bloom a sniff? The Barbara Kindschi Greenhouse will be open to the public beginning October 12, and The Beast is expected to reach full bloom later in the week.

Kenny Porter, ’15 always had a passion for comic books. 📚💥 From a degree in writing at GVSU to working with his childhood idols writing comics for DC, read about Kenny’s journey into the comics industry here:

Porter's first opportunity with DC came as a horror short story starring Green Lantern for “Cursed Comics Cavalcade No. 1.” From there, he received more opportunities to write for DC, including series like “DC Mech,” “Superboy,” and “The Flash.”
