Move-In week is in full swing! For Megan Wierenga '00, Director of Student Affairs Communications and Engagement at GVSU, that means more than just welcoming students back to campus. Earlier this week, she helped her son, Miller, move in on campus.

"It feels like a full-circle moment, moving him in 30 years after I did. My time as a GVSU student was some of the best and most formative years, and it will be so cool to watch him during his time here,” Megan said.

🎉🏫 Congratulations to Cassandra Oostindie '06, '08 & '20 on being awarded the Josten’s Educator of the Year award! Cassandra was recognized, along with the other award recipients, at the Jostens Renaissance Global Conference back in June. She teaches BioPhysics & Sports Medicine at East Kentwood High School and Freshman Campus, as well as being a licensed athletic trainer, PBIS coach, and HOSA Advisor.

Starting as the first-ever volunteer at Grand Valley's pro bono physical therapy clinic, Barb Hoogenboom ’97 has given decades of experience serving patients who are uninsured or underinsured while sharing her passion for mentoring the next generation of physical therapists. Today, her commitment continues through a legacy gift that will help sustain the clinic's mission for years to come.

"There was something that really resonated with my heart because people needed physical therapy care but did not have access to it," she said.

For Barb, that combination of service and experiential learning is what makes the clinic so special. Patients receive care that can improve their quality of life, while students gain meaningful experiences.
