Today is my last day as Director of the Greater West Michigan Region. It has been an honor to serve the region these last eight years! -Ginger Rohwer

Michigan’s School Aid Budget has been the source of grant funds for the Regions and Collaboratives in the MiSTEM Network since it was created in Michigan’s 2017-2018 fiscal year (PA 108). The MiSTEM Regions and Collaboratives were not funded in Public Act 15 of 2025 (PA 15) which is Michigan's 2025-2026 School Aid Budget.

Kent Career Tech Center’s Networking and Cyber Security class participated in the ArtPrize Motherboard mock-cocktail hour. The event focused less on showcasing their computer skills and more on building communication abilities they can use in many situations.

An ArtPrize-inspired event gives Kent Career Tech Center cyber security students practice and sharpen their presentation and speaking skills.

The Wege Prize High School Collaborative Studio, guided by KCAD professor and organizer Gayle DeBruyn, supports community-connected, career-connected learning

In addition to designing creative solutions to problems, DeBruyn said the program exposes students to career opportunities and “the benefits of being actively engaged with the world around them.”

“By providing teens with the tools to become active contributors in their communities, we’re aiming to help them invest in creating a better future,” she said.

This summer’s Wege Prize High School Collaborative Studio, hosted by Kendall College of Art and Design, inspired students to design accessible and sustainable parks, fashion and prescription pill bottles.
