Today we celebrate one of the very special people who makes OAC feel like home! ❤️

Donna has been so much more than our “lunch lady.” She knows our students, understands their individual needs, greets them with a smile, and has helped make our cafeteria a welcoming and happy place every single day. 🍎🥪💛

Her kindness, patience, laughter, and genuine love for our students and staff have made a lasting impact at OAC, and our lunchroom simply won’t be the same without her!

Donna, thank you for taking such wonderful care of our OAC family. We hope retirement brings you lots of relaxation, fun, adventures, and plenty of lunches that someone else prepares for YOU! 😂❤️

📚💙 THANK YOU, Lakeshore Toys for Tots! 💙📚

Once again, our friends at Lakeshore Toys for Tots showed up in a BIG way, dropping off boxes and boxes of books and school supplies! 📦📚✏️

We especially appreciate the thought and care that goes into choosing books that are just right for our students. That extra effort does not go unnoticed, and it means so much to us!

And the impact of these donations reaches even further! In addition to sharing these books with our OAC students, we are able to distribute them during our Festival of the Arts to friends from local school programs, community programs and families who join us for this special event. ❤️📚

That means these boxes of books make their way into the hands and homes of children and families throughout our community, spreading the gift of reading far beyond our school walls.

We are incredibly fortunate to live in a community where organizations continue to show up, give back, and care so deeply about one another. Thank you, Lakeshore Toys for Tots, for helping us connect, share, and spread a little more joy throughout our entire community! 💙📚

💙💚 Learning, Growing & Getting Ready at OAC! 💚💙

Our Ottawa Area Center staff spent the past week learning, practicing, and preparing to make sure we’re ready to give our students the very best care and support!

Our professional development included school culture, Blue Envelope training, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), safe lifting techniques, MOVE International certification work, bloodborne pathogen training, CPR, and more.

It was a full week, but an important one! Every training helps ensure our staff are well-trained, confident, and ready to safely support the unique needs of every OAC student.

We’re proud of the time, energy, and heart our staff put into being ready for another great school year. 💙💚
