Quartet Spotlight!

Checkmate is the 2026 SingUnited Rising Star Champion quartet, representing Heart of America Region 25. Formed in December, the quartet features Nicole Gray on tenor, Katie Purdin on lead, Meghan McClafferty on baritone, and Kianna Montanez on bass.

Though Checkmate is a new combination, its members are no strangers to singing together. Katie, Meghan, and Kianna earned third place at the 2025 Rising Star Contest as Plausible Deniability, while Nicole and Kianna previously sang together in Perpetual Sound, a three-year Rising Star medalist from 2022 to 2024. Their barbershop experience also includes OK City Chorus, Note-Ably North Texas Chorus, Rich-Tone Chorus, Prism Barbershop Chorus.

🎶 The BelAirs 🎶

The BelAirs are the DFW area’s newest quartet, having just formed a few weeks ago. Consisting of members of both the Lone Star Harmony Men’s Chorus and Legacy Of Harmony, these men are dedicated to fun and exciting entertainment and are planning to compete in the upcoming SWD quartet competition in October and the SWD Senior Quartet contest next spring.

Members are; John MacDonald - Tenor, Tim Goerdel - Lead, Mark Holdeman - Baritone, Rich Flinchbaugh - Bass

Some of our chorus members participated in Open Mic Night at the Civic Auditorium in Allen tonight!! So much fun!

Barbershop was well represented by several choruses and quartets from the surrounding area.
