We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and Dojo of Bernice Sensei on the heartbreaking loss of this remarkable woman. She will be forever cherished in the hearts of those of us fortunate to have met her.

It is with profound regret that we inform you that Bernice Tom Shihan passed away Saturday morning, May 16, 2026.

Sensei has been an inspiration to us all. We will miss her deeply.

We honor the memory of Morehiro Saito Shihan, who passed on this day in 2002. Our world dimmed that day as his light winked out, but his bright legacy lives on in the lineage of his students.

That’s a wrap! Thank you to all who came from near and far to attend this year’s seminar! You really are an integral part of a successful weekend of training and fellowship. A huge thanks to Pat Hendricks Shihan for sharing her deep well of knowledge and skills with us all. Everyone left with their cup filled to overflowing.

We had a great day of spirited training with Pat Hendricks Shihan yesterday, followed by an amazing assortment of dishes for our pot-luck party. We hope you didn’t party too hard, because training resumes this morning at 9am today!

Big thanks to everyone who stayed to clean or mow after class today! Many hands make light work, and we appreciate every hand that was lent to today’s tasks.

A reminder for everyone who wants to wait until the last minute to register for the upcoming seminar with Pat Hendricks Shihan: the special Kaeshiwaza Class on Sunday morning must be pre-registered in advance online. There will be no registrations at the door for this additional class.
