Thanks again to Aparna for opening up her home to let us train without catching fire.

The weather forecast suggests that the heat might be on a downward trend going forward, but this is Texas, and trusting a weather forecast more than 24 hours in advance is sheer folly.
We’ll be back to regular classes in the Dojo again soon!

CLASS IS ON TONIGHT, **BUT** …
Due to today’s “Extreme Heat Warning” being extended until 9pm tonight, class will not be held at the Dojo. A student has once again kindly offered up her spacious (and air conditioned) living room for us to meet and train this evening. Come out and take advantage of this opportunity to train, rather than have yet another full cancellation. (Active Dojo members will receive the address via text)

THE DOJO BUILDING WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC TONIGHT.

Please arrive already in your gi to eliminate the need for an additional area to change, and park in the Cul de Sac or along one side of the driveway.

Let’s just get this out of the way now: It’s going to be too hot to train in the Dojo on Tuesday. We’ve gone from a vague “Heat Advisory” to the much more alarming “Extreme Heat Warning.” One of our students has kindly offered up a space in her home near the Dojo for us to meet and train* on Tuesday evening. Current students will be contacted directly with more details. (*We’re going to have to get creative here. “Training” could mean techniques without falls, discussion, Aikido videos, or whatever ultimately makes sense in the space provided.)

Sorry for the late notice. We really hoped that the temps would drop enough in time to have class in the Dojo tonight, but the Heat Advisory is still in effect and the Dojo is really hot. Stay cool tonight and hydrate. We’ll see you at 9am for Taijutsu and 10:15am for Weapons.

We’re thinking the wisest thing would be to pull the plug on class tonight, much as we hate to cancel. The Heat Advisory runs through the middle of classtime. Friday doesn’t look any better, but this is Texas and the only constant (weather-wise) is change. Stay home. Stay cool. Stay hydrated.

CLASS IS CANCELLED TONIGHT, FRIDAY JULY 31.
We’re not done with summer folks, and won’t be for a while, yet. As much as we hate to cancel classes, three out of three of our favorite weather apps agree that it will be dangerously hot at classtime. Let’s regroup tomorrow morning at 9am for Taijutsu, followed by Weapons at 10:15am.
