The Allen Arts Festival starts this weekend at Watters Creek. Friday through Sunday, May 13-15.

Presented by the Allen Arts Alliance, this annual festival features an outstanding group of juried artists, local and regional, showcasing original art in different media categories. Live music, children’s art activities, and much more will make this a fun event for the entire family!

Artists under the age of 20--There is still plenty of time to apply for '20 Under 20' 2021! Deadline is November 30th.

Brief artist statement (max 250 words)
List of submitted artwork: title, dimensions, and media
Artwork images in JPEG or PowerPoint form. JPEG file names must include artist name and title of artwork, e.g. VincentVanGogh_StarryNight.jpg. PowerPoint filenames must include artist name, and the titles for each piece of art must be included on the slides.

Please consider the Allen Arts Alliance on North Texas Giving Day! The Allen Arts Alliance includes non-profit member organizations who support a creative community in Allen through arts education, music, cultural tourism and visual and performing arts initiatives. The Arts Alliance also develops arts education for thousands of local youth through ArtSparks, ArtReach, STEAM camps and the Allen Teen Arts Council.

’20 Under 20 2020′ This is a juried art exhibit showcasing 20 emerging artists under the age of 20. The selected artwork will be on display at Blue House Too, Allen Arts Alliance’s art gallery in Watters Creek.

Special Announcement: Blue House Too is moving!!
We will be in our new location starting Wednesday, November 13th! Our first opening reception in our beautiful new space will be for "Artropolis" on November 21st! The new address will be 988 Village Green Drive.
We will be in our current location (934 Watters Creek Blvd) until Sunday. Make sure and stop by to see Rita Vicari's paintings before then!
Blue House Too will continue to be a space for local artists to display and sell their work, as well as an event venue and space for art classes! We can't wait for you to see the new space!

We will begin accepting applications for '20 Under 20 2020' TOMORROW Monday, September 23rd!

North Texas Giving Day--September 19, 2019

Please consider the Allen Arts Alliance on North Texas Giving Day! The Allen Arts Alliance awards approximately $50,000 per year to non-profit member organizations who support a creative community in Allen through arts education, music, cultural tourism, visual and performing arts initiatives.
The Arts Alliance also develops arts education for thousands of local youth through outreach programs such as ArtSparks, ArtReach, STEAM Camps, and the Allen Teen Arts Council (ATAC).

This is a $10,000 grant opportunity for 8th-11th grade fine arts students, through a joint initiative by the Texas Cultural Trust and the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Mary Sorensen Jazz Quintet performs on Friday, July 12 at 7:30pm at the Allen Public Library. A graduate of the University of North Texas Jazz program, Mary was featured as a guest vocal soloist and recorded with UNT One O’clock Lab Band. Free event.

Hear the harrowing combat stories and the later path to healing of Vietnam veteran Sergeant Paul Reed at 7:30p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the Allen Public Library. Sgt. Reed is the author of Kontum Diary, that includes a lengthy forward by the late General William Westmoreland.

New exhibit by artist Jorge Narey Fernandez opens at Blue House Too at 934 Watters Creek Blvd on Wednesday, July 3. Opening Reception is on Friday, July 12, 6-8pm.

Most Americans can name at least one of the Mercury 7 astronauts who were the first to fly into outer space, but what about the women who were considered for this endeavor? Wally Funk had “the right stuff” but was denied the possibility of traveling into outer space because of her
gender.
An aviator for over 63 years and a member of the Mercury 13, she will share her story 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at the Allen Public Library.

Celebrate Independence Day with the Allen Philharmonic Winds conducted by Dr. Philip Obado on Friday, June 28 from 7-9pm at Watters Creek. Enjoy a lively mixture of marches and classic Americana melodies. Crafts for children will be on property. Come meet multiple Military Support Groups who will be in attendance.

Texas has 254 counties and each county courthouse has a unique history. Allen residents John and Anne Gifford will share their experiences and photos taken on their journey to visit all of the Texas court houses on Thursday, June 27 at 7:30pm at the Allen Public Library’s auditorium.

Painting demonstrations and Live Music at Blue House Too on
Sunday, June 23rd; 3:00-5:00pm. Free event.

The featured artists from our ongoing exhibit will be demonstrating their painting and 3D artmaking techniques! Live music will be provided by "Playing with a Heathen."

Registration for Allen Teen Arts Council's Bob Ross event this Saturday at Blue House Too is now closed.
Only those who have registered are allowed to attend the event.

Come and watch two of Smith Ballew’s films, Rawhide (1938) and Hawaiian Buckaroo (1938), at the Allen Public Library's auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 18. Free event.

Today is the Flag Day Celebration organized by the Allen Heritage Guild at 10:30 am at the Allen Christian Church on 450 E. St. Mary Drive. There will be music, activities and refreshment.

Plano Art Association is calling for entries for its 125 Show 2019.
Deadline is midnight, Tuesday, June 11.
The 125 Show 2019 is open to all artists living in a community within 125 miles of Plano. Judges will select the top 80 works
for display in the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts Center in Richardson.
