We loved getting to see all of you at our Back to School Night on Tuesday! If you haven't guessed it, our theme this year is all about fruit--Fruit of the Spirit that is! πŸ“πŸ‡πŸπŸ’πŸŽπŸπŸ‰πŸ‹πŸ₯πŸ‘

The scripture that will be the heart of our year comes from Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." We can't wait to grow together as we strive to reflect more of Jesus in our lives while He cultivates a harvest of righteousness within us!

Welcome back to another week of ! This week we are focusing on preparing for the BIG emotions that come with starting a new school year.

1. If you haven't already done so, begin talking to your child about starting school. Tell them about all the fun things they are going to get to do and the friends they are going to meet. The more excited you are for them, the more they will catch your feelings about school being a fun, exciting place to be!
2. Talk about how grown-ups come back. Leave them with a friend, family member, or babysitter--or even take turns with your spouse! Before you leave, assure them you will come back and when you return make a big deal about reminding them that you promised to return and you did! Even if they are used to being left with a grandparent, this will help reinforce in their mind that you come back no matter who you leave them with.
3. Think about creating a quick, intentional goodbye ritual for drop off to signal that it's time for them to be brave and step into their class and start their day. This could be a high five and a hug, a kiss on the forehead, a special hand signal, etc. This small simple act reaffirms to your child that they are loved, they are safe, and that you will be back soon.
4. Finally, make sure to attend our Back to School Night next Tuesday, September 1st from 5:30-7:00pm. You and your child will get to meet their teachers, see their classrooms and get excited about the year ahead!

We are back with some more to help your child prepare for a great year at Kid Care! This week's tips are all about fostering independence:

1. Practice putting on backpacks and wearing them around the house so that they will be ready to confidently walk in on the first day.
2. Write their name on sticky notes and place them around the house and have them search for their name. This will help them to recognize their name in the classroom.
3. For those who are potty trained, help encourage them to pull up their pants independently.
4. For children 3 and up, allow them to help pack their lunches. When children help pack their lunch, they learn to follow routines, manage small tasks, and take ownership of their daily schedule. This early practice supports independence and self-discipline.
