Allen Park High School Band Shines at MSBOA District 12 Solo & Ensemble Festival!

On Saturday, February 8, 2025, members of the Allen Park High School Bands showcased their musical talents at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) District 12 Solo & Ensemble Festival at Livonia Franklin High School. We are thrilled to announce that 15 out of our 16 events earned medals!

Division 2 Rating (Red Medal)
Hannah Booher – Flute Solo

Congratulations to the Allen Park HS Concert Choir for their performance at the Michigan School Vocal Music Association State Choir Festival. The choir received the highest rating (Division 1) from all three judges! Your Allen Park HS Concert Choir is officially among the best in the state!

Attached to this post is the choir's closing song, The Road Not Taken, poem by Robert Frost set to music by Douglas E. Wagner. The video begins with the senior members of the choir reciting the poem.

It was a fantastic concert! Thank you to the Downriver Music Guild Coalition as well as Dr. James Bachelor, Central Michigan University Director of Band, for working with our students today!

It’s a busy weekend for our AP Jaguar music students! Come to Flat Rock HS today at 7 PM for the Downriver Music Guild All-Star band performances. Our Allen Park middle school and high school students are busy preparing for tonight’s big performance!

Congratulations to Allen Park High School seniors Steven Stewart and Jesica Courtright for their performance at the Michigan School Vocal Music Association (MSVMA) STATE Solo and Ensemble Festival. Both students received a Division 1 rating, the highest rating possible, on their performance.

Members of the Allen Park High School Concert Choir recently performed with area high schools at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) Pease Auditorium for the EMU Choral Invitational under the direction of Dr. Brandon Johnson, Dr. Katherine Rohwer, and guest conductor and composer Dr. J Aaron McDermid. The performance included the world premiere of Dr. McDermids “Let There Always Be Light.”

Today, the Allen Park High School Concert Choir performed in the Michigan School Vocal Music Association District 12 Choral Festival at Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti, Michigan. I am proud to announce your Allen Park High School Concert Choir received a Division 1 Rating, the highest rating possible. The choir qualified for States!
