Nabi Mousch (Missy)
2009?-2023
The cat with more than nine lives passed over the rainbow bridge on April 27, 20023. Nabi was born probably somewhere in Cattaraugus County around 2009. All that is known about her earliest year is that she was found in a dumpster with a litter of kittens and taken to the Salamanca Cat Rescue. From there, she was adopted by an educator in the Buffalo area and lived happily as Missy as an indoor cat in the most pink-colored house anyone has ever seen.
When allergies to cat dander were developed, Missy was adopted by Mrs. Wahl and moved to Napoli. Her name changed to Nabi Mousch. She became an indoor-outdoor cat once she learned how to open a sliding screen door with her paws. In her earlier years in Napoli, she loved to play fetch with the thick rubber bands that are found around broccoli. She quickly learned how to high five which she continued until the day of her passing. She often took selfies of herself doing physics lab experiments and posted them on her ALCS Physics is Phun page.
After moving to Lakewood, she again became an indoor cat. She would enjoy going out into a kennel and watching the life outside. That is, until the day she learned to climb the sides of the kennel and climb out. Fencing was placed over the top of the kennel to keep her inside, but one day, Mrs. Wahl looked out to see Nabi climbing on the outside of the kennel to get back in. She again became and indoor-outdoor cat and the kennel door was left open for her to go in and out at will.
Throughout her life, she developed friendships with many chipmunks and frequently brought them inside the house. She had a call that alerted Mrs. Wahl to get out the chipmunk-catching apparatus immediately. All friends were ultimately released outside unharmed.
In her later years, she loved to play laser tag and had a special meow to indicate that Mrs. Wahl was to operate the laser pointer immediately. She would only drink out of water glass, preferably with ice. One of her greatest joys in life was sitting outside in the sun on a bed of pine needles. She hated snow.
In 2016, she developed kidney failure during a summer heat wave. She was sent home to die, but surprising everyone, she survived and thrived. She suffered two more rounds of kidney failure, but this last round was too much for her. She passed away on her favorite pink blanket and will be buried on Angus Hill Farm.
She is survived by her heart-broken owner, Mrs. Wahl, who will miss being woken up in the morning if she should ever oversleep and will miss those “high five’s.”
