Thirty years after Daisaku Ikeda delivered his landmark address “Thoughts on Education for Global Citizenship” at Teachers College, Columbia University, educators, students, alumni, and community members gathered in the same historic space to reflect on its enduring relevance.
Through a panel discussion featuring Dr. Andrea Bartoli, President Edward M. Feasel, Dr. Ruby Nagashima, and Dr. Isabel Nuñez, the conversation explored what it means to cultivate the wisdom, courage, and compassion needed to address today’s global challenges.
As panelists emphasized throughout the afternoon, global citizenship is not an abstract ideal reserved for a select few—it is expressed in the everyday choices we make to learn from others, engage across differences, and contribute to the well-being of our communities.
