It was fun zooming our cow Oreo today!! 🐮

This morning the 2nd graders in Algona were once again able to see and ask questions through our Adopt A Cow Program with Classroom Educator and Beef Farmer, Sara Preston. They learned more about getting ready for calving season as their cows will be having calves (babies) in the next month or two. They were then able to see their own cows and ask questions!

It is so much fun to see the excitement and interest these kids have in beef cattle! Thank you Algona Community School District for your support in our program!

In recognition of World Kindness Day on November 13th, we would like to spread a little kindness in our community and support our local Food Pantry. The annual “Stuff the Trailer” event at The Chrome is November 20th. We’d like to collect non-perishable items and/or cash donations for the Food Pantry by November 18th. Our own Kindergarten Prep students will collect items from each building and deliver to The Chrome on the 20th.

Please consider donating to this worthy cause that contributes immensely to our county each and every day.

One of our targets this week is compound words. See how many compound words you and your child can come up with together! Feel free to bring the list to school to share with the class, if they’d like to. 😃

Our story of the week is Edward the Emu by Sheena Knowles. We have also read Edwina the Emu. Ask your child which one they like better and why?

Reminder that tomorrow (9/8) is picture day! 📸

[09/02/20]   Reminder!

Our first weekly journal comes home tonight! Be sure to write back to your child and have them bring it back Monday. We had an awesome first week of school! Enjoy your weekend!

We had an awesome first day of school!!! 🍎📚📝

Last zoom tonight! Never thought this would be how I’d be saying my “see you laters” to a class but so thankful for technology allowing me to at least talk to them this way every week for the last 11 weeks. It was a great year with this wonderful group (not all are pictured) of kiddos! I’ll miss you all! 🖤❤️

Material drop off and pick up today from 4:00-7:00 for students with last names A-K.

Bryant Elementary

Dear Bryant Families,
We will be having a drive through pick up/drop off for school materials on May 26th and 27th. The teachers have your student’s items (including school supplies, clothing left, etc.) bagged and ready to return to you. We will collect materials (books from classrooms or the media center, textbooks, etc.) that need to be returned to the school at the same time. We ask that you stay in your vehicle and wait for a staff member to come to your vehicle. At that time, we will need your student’s name and homeroom teacher. Please wait for a staff member to greet you in your car.
The 1st grade drive through for items will be on North Street, which is at the front of the building. Please pull up to the curb and park.
2nd grade drive through for items will be on Dodge Street, which is on the west side of the building. Please pull up to the curb and park.

If your student's last name starts with A-K, we ask that you come on May 26th between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. to collect and return items.

If your student's last name starts with L-Z, we ask that you come on May 27th between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. to collect and return items.

We encourage everyone to wear a mask if you would please.

Yours in Education,
Mr. Sudol

Throw back Thursday for Staff Appreciation Week! Thank you staff for all you do for our students!

Dr. Seuss

Hope you all had a fun Earth day! I sure missed celebrating our Earth in the classroom together. Here is one of my favorite books that I would have read yesterday for Earth day! Enjoy your day! 🌏

'THE LORAX' by Dr. Seuss - Read by Danny DeVito"

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and there is no better way to celebrate this occasion than to have Dr. Seuss’s good friend Danny DeVito read 'The Lorax'.

Today, on this 50th anniversary of Earth Day the Lorax’s message is even more relevant. Dr. Seuss’s beloved story teaches all of us to speak up and make a difference. The Lorax tells the story, in a playful and hopeful way, of the beautiful Truffula Trees and the danger of taking our earth for granted. The book teaches us that just one small seed, or one small child, can make a difference.

“UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

Happy Earth day 2nd graders! It’s supposed to be nice out today, so get outside and go on a scavenger hunt! Post a photo in the comments of you doing something outside today! 🌏🌳🌻☀️

Bryant Elementary

Good morning! We were going to have students paint rocks this spring and place them out front of Bryant to spell different sayings or words. If you would like a project at home to do you can paint a rock that is preferably the size of your parent/guardian’s fist. When you are finished you can place it in the mulch bed in the front of the Bryant building. We appreciate your help! Have a great Tuesday! Mr. Sudol
