On December 1st, Kossuth County Master Gardeners hosted a Holiday Garland Workshop, led by Shannon Franke.

Participants learned how to wire pieces of greenery together and add embellishments to make their own unique garland or wreath. Check out some of the creations below!

Shannon Franke and Brenda Bormann recently planted grasses and Sedum at Central Park 💐🌾

that Sedum blooms in the late summer and attracts a plethora of pollinators? Not to mention that it is easy to maintain and thrives well under various conditions, even the summer heat!

🚜Thank you to our partners at the Iowa's Center for Agricultural Safety & Health we have reflective tape strips available at our office to make your equipment more visible this fall!

Kossuth County Master Gardeners took a different spin on garden produce this weekend...they helped families at Last Call Before Fall use produce to make print art!

Slow Cooker Lentils - Spend Smart Eat Smart

On September 15th nearly 3️⃣0️⃣ people attended the "Healthy & Homemade: Slow Cooker Meals" program and learned tips for making safe and healthy meals in the slow cooker!

Participants sampled the Spend Smart. Eat Smart. Slow Cooker Lentils recipe and made homemade taco seasoning!

On September 8th, over 200 area 3rd graders attended the 2022 Kossuth County Progressive Ag Farm Safety Day® at the Kossuth County Fairgrounds!

Students learned about various safety topics. If you have a 3rd grader that attended, please ask them about the day! 🐷🐑🚜🩹🧪⚠️

Fall is officially 10 days away, so one of our favorite fall perennials is popping up at greenhouses and on front porches everywhere! 🍁🍂

Look at these 🌷STUNNING🌺 floral arrangements participants created at our Floral Arranging Workshop last evening!

Many participants brought blooms from their gardens. Prairie Sky Farm provided beautiful prairie flowers and Bloom Floral provided a variety of delightful stems.

The workshop was taught by ISU Horticulture Professor, Dan Brabec. A big thank you to Kelsey at Bloom Floral for sparking creativity locally and assisting participants in making these stunning arrangements.

Kossuth Extension Connection - August 2022 Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) was recently discovered in Kossuth County.  EAB is a significant threat to native ash tree species, typically killing a tree within two to four years after becoming infested.  For more information on EAB, click the button below.

Last evening, 1️⃣9️⃣ people attended our Emerald Ash Borer public meeting.

Mike Kintner- Entomologist with IDALS, Emma Hanigan- Urban Forester with the Iowa DNR, and Dr. Donald Lewis- Entomologist with Iowa State University shared information on how to identify and treat EAB as well as the importance of replacement tree selection and diversity. 🌳🌿🌳
