Great attendance this morning at the Northern Research Farm Annual Meeting in Wesley!

Participants were updated on the capital campaign and farm activities and heard presentations on nitrogen and farm wind breaks.

Master Gardener volunteer Tracy Walker recently delivered a seed donation to the Algona Public Library's seed library!

We have been busy visiting 4-year-old preschool classrooms across the county to read My Family's Dairy Farm and make frozen yogurt for Read Across Iowa month 🐄🥛📖

Thank you 👏👏 to the Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation for providing a copy of My Family's Dairy Farm for each student to take home and to Early Childhood North Central Iowa for awarding us a literacy grant to make these visits possible!

On March 4, ISU Extension and Outreach and Master Gardeners of Kossuth and the Burt Public Library hosted the 4th annual Seed Exchange!

🔴 Participants learned about different types of mulches, when to apply mulch, and potential problems with mulch from Kossuth County Master Gardener Intern Brad Thill 🌳🌿

🔴 Participants collected free seeds to plant in their gardens courtesy of Seed Savers Exchange and Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company and fellow participants 🥒🫑🥕🍅🌺

This morning, we held our final Private Pesticide Applicator Continuing Instruction Course in Kossuth County for the 2023-2024 training season. Thank you to all attended!

This morning, 6️⃣0️⃣ farmers heard updates on pesticide related topics at the Private Continuing Instruction Course led by ISU Extension and Outreach Field Agronomist Gentry Sorenson.

If you still need to attend a continuing instruction course there is one opportunity left in Kossuth County on February 29 at 9:30 am at the Swea City United Methodist Church. Registration is required, visit www.extension.iastate.edu/Kossuth.

David Brown, behavioral health state specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach, offers tips for understanding children’s reactions and helping them cope. These include listening, affirming and supporting their need for help, being genuine, checking in often, and taking intentional breaks from the news.
