As begins its 186th year, to summer service projects! We were delighted to partner with the HEOP program to support the A.E. Crandall Hook & Ladder Company. Students learned about the P.A.S.S. method for safely using a fire extinguisher, took turns practicing their fire-fighting skills, and then got to ride in style in the fire trucks. Thanks again to the wonderful HEOP students and program staff, as well as the A.E. Crandall volunteers for hosting such a fun day!

21 members of the Alfred University Women’s Soccer Team overhauled the Hornell Community Garden this morning! Alongside 2 volunteers from the Hornell YMCA and the United Presbyterian Church, student volunteers quickly and thoroughly prepared all the garden beds for planting, cleared leaves from the fence line, and spread straw to slow w**d growth between the beds. As soon as the weather warms, the garden will be ready for spring planting. Thanks, AU Women’s Soccer!

Our final community partner highlight in the countdown to -- the Allegany County Saddle Dusters, NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation, and the newly-formed IMPACT: Friends of Allegany County Trails group! Looking forward to some trail maintenance at Phillips Creek State Forest tomorrow.
