The shoes are gone! Total collected: 3315 pairs! Thanks to so many people for helping to collect, sort, and load! As soon as I get a check for the shoes, I will post an update on the total raised for the Navajo Water Project!

Well, friends, we did it...not only did we meet our goal of 2500 pairs of shoes...we smashed it! As of today, 3200 pairs of shoes! That will get us $1280 for the Navajo Water Project and bring us to over $10,000 over all! Woohoo! Thanks for all of your help! So many people donated shoes, it’s amazing!

We are still collecting shoes until January 15. We have 2300 pairs now. We need 2500 pairs to get the $1000 for the Navajo Water Project. I know we can get those last 200 pairs! Collection boxes are still out in the community and in the AU campus. Or I can pick them up from you. Please let me know if you drop some shoes off in any of the boxes so I know to go empty the box. My student helpers are on break, so I don’t have folks checking the boxes as often as I used to. Thanks!

We will be at the Alfred Montessori School Marketplace tomorrow, Dec. 8, with baked goods and SimpliNature products. Our last sale of the semester probably.
We have 1400 pairs of shoes counted right now, but I anticipate that number will go up to 1700 by the end of the weekend. Goal is 2500 by Jan 15, so we are doing ok! But keep those shoes coming!
As far as money, we have about $8200, so I am optimistic we will reach our goal of raising enough money to provide electricity and running water to 2 homes on the Navajo reservation. What a generous community we have here in Alfred!

Thanks to the generosity of the Alfred community and the hard work of my students, we are approaching our goals! Our goal was to raise enough money to provide running water and electricity for two homes on the Navajo Reservation, which would total $9000. As of today, we have raised about $8000! The shoe drive, which is part of the fund-raising effort, is half way there. We have collected 1250 pairs of shoes...our goal is 2500 pairs, which will bring us the extra $1000 we need. Thanks to everyone for your help and please continue to support us. We will be selling baked goods and SimpliNature products at the AU dance show tonight and tomorrow night, at the jazz band concert Saturday night, and outside of the Bergren Forum next Thursday. We will also be at the Alfred Montessori school’s holiday bazaar on Dec. 8.

The polar plunge for the Navajo Water Project was a tremendous success. We are still working on a final tally of pledges, but I think we will exceed $4000 just for that one event! Thanks to all of you who helped in one way or another. Will post some photos and videos soon.
We are still collecting shoes! We have 625 pairs, which is 25% of our goal, so please keep collecting and bringing shoes in!

New fundraiser!
We are doing a “Semipolar Plunge” on November 18. You can sign up to go into Foster Lake on that day (3:30) OR you can sponsor me or someone else who has registered to go in. If you go to semipolarplunge.myevent.com, you will find info on how to register or how to make a pledge to encourage me or someone else who has registered to go in the lake. Even our university president, Mark Zupan, has registered to go into the lake! Thanks! Alfredians, come on up to Foster Lake on Nov 18 starting at 3:30 or slightly before to watch, participate, and enjoy a bonfire with hot cocoa and s’mores! Oh, and feel free to bring a pair of shoes to the event to donate!
