JobLink – did you know there are over 1,000 in-system postings currently active plus over 700 curated job? This includes over 600 internship postings!
OptimalRésumé – did you know there are over 600 templates to choose from to build a résumé? A best practice is to include a résumé as a class assignment.
CandidCareer – did you know there are many videos here to help with virtual interviewing and all types of career related help. You can incorporate these in your presentations for you class or assign a project to research industry related videos.

Job Summary
Power & Construction Group is looking for a Junior Estimator.
The Junior Estimator is responsible for assisting in the bidding process. Having a familiarity with a variety of contract documents and procedures is a plus. Must have the ability to effectively communicate via phone and email. And have a demonstrated ability to work independently with strong written communication and organizational skills.
 Perform all work associated with the bidding process
o Attend pre-bid meetings
o Coordinate with vendors for pricing
o Complete material takeoffs
o Process and track submittal documents
o Process and track RFI’s
o Prepare and submit project estimates and bids
 Produce and distribute correspondences, memos, letters, and forms
 Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
 Accomplishes all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested
Skills and Qualifications
 Electrical knowledge a plus.
 Experience with Microsoft Office applications required, including Microsoft Project. SharePoint, Bid 2 Win, and Bluebeam experience a plus.
 Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Demonstrated time management skills along with attention to detail. Must be self-motivated.
 Must understand construction terms, scheduling and planning concepts.
 Understanding of construction documentation (contracts, drawings, specifications) required.
 Minimum of a two year degree in Construction Technology or equivalent required.

Alfred State Construction Management Junior, Hunter DeJonge is winner of the Reilly Scholarship. The Mechanical Contracting Education & Research Foundation (MCERF) and the John W. Danfort Company have established a scholarship to commemorate the memory of its leadership, the Reilly
Family. Danforth is a charter member of the MCAA. Kevin “Duke” Reilly serves as Danforth’s Chairman/CEO. Wayne, Patrick and Emmett Reilly contributed a combined 128 years of commitment and loyalty to their company and the industry. This national scholarship will symbolize the Reillys’ many contributions to the mechanical contracting industry.
The $5,000 scholarship will be presented to a worthy student, nominated by a faculty advisor of a chartered MCAA student chapter and selected by the Career Development Committee.

You also can take advantage of Star-NY which is a free online tutoring services available Sunday-Thursday from 7PM – midnight.

Construction Management

Alfred State construction management program focuses on both commercial building and heavy civil construction. Using real plans and specifications for real construction projects in NY, students complete the same tasks they will their first years of their career in our labs.
