Nothing better than taking a day to be inspired.
What a fabulous production all around. Theatre really is one of the few places left where a bunch of strangers can come together and experience something at the exact same time — the jump scares, holding our collective breath, laughing together, feeling empathy together, sitting in silence together.
There’s something really special about all agreeing to pause for a moment and hold space for just this thing, right now. That’s the magic of live theatre.

Building community together through music
Last week, teachers from across the region joined Performing Arts Division faculty, Dr. Hannah Porter Denecke and Dr. Matias Homar, at Alfred University for a dynamic Modern Band Professional Development Workshop focused on bringing today’s music into today’s classrooms.
From contemporary genres and collaborative music-making to new approaches for engaging students through performance, songwriting, technology, and creativity, participants explored ways to expand what music education can look and sound like for the next generation.
Thanks to all the teachers who brought their musicianship, openness, and passion for their students. We can’t wait to see how these ideas make their way into classrooms and ensembles!
👀 Keep your eyes open for another exciting professional development opportunity coming Fall 2026!

To the incredible Performing Arts Division Class of 2026 at Alfred University — TAKE A BOW. 🎭✨
You’ve spent these years creating, performing, collaborating, growing, and pouring your hearts into every rehearsal, performance, late-night study session, and standing ovation moment. You brought stories to life, inspired audiences, supported one another, and proved that art has the power to move people in unforgettable ways.
As you step into your next act, never forget the magic you carry with you — your creativity, your voice, your passion, and your courage to be fully seen. The world needs artists like you now more than ever.
Keep taking risks. Keep making noise. Keep dancing, making music, acting, designing, creating, and dreaming BIG. Whether your stage is a theater, a classroom, a city street, a studio, or somewhere completely unexpected, trust that you belong there.
We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see where your talent takes you next. 💛
Congratulations, graduates! The spotlight is yours. 🌟🎓

Last month, seniors David Howe and Adam Brewer performed a laptop ensemble concert at Stull Observatory. This unique event was developed In Professor Matias Homar’s Laptop Ensemble Class and was an “outside of ordinary” experience to be heard and felt by the audience.
After the concert, several audience members tried the MIDI controller created by Professor Homar used to perform sounds at the concert.
