At our SUMMER 2026 Pinning, we were thankful to have the team from Christus Cabrini Hospital come and present the Lily Award to one of our CENLA students. We were also honored to have our Lily Award nominees recognized.

Our SUMMER 2026 Lily Award nominees were Ian David, Matthew Delrie, Hailee Apolinar, and Alyson Tarver. The SUMMER 2026 Lily Award Recipient was Alyssa McLain! We are so proud of Alyssa and all our our nominees! You all have exhibited excellence in clinical performance, overcome challenges, and shown compassion to all of those you have cared for! 💜

Seniors in the nursing program at Northwestern State University’s Cenla campus got the opportunity to put their nursing education to use outside of the hospital through homelessness outreach before they graduate.

Senior nursing students prepare for patient care through homelessness outreach NATCHITOCHES – Senior Bachelor of Science in Nursing students at Northwestern State University's Cenla campus connected people experiencing homelessness in downtown Alexandria with information about local resources while gaining experience

CENLA Students: LISTEN UP! One of these programs may be able to assist you with paying for your schooling! Applications for both are due SEPTEMBER 1 by NOON!

1) The Cabrini FALL 2026 Cohort applications are now open! Students must be a nursing major on the CENLA Campus with intent to work at Christus Cabrini Hospital following graduation. Once you graduate and pass your NCLEX, Cabrini will pay back your student loans up to the amount of $25,000 over two years while you work with them. Applications and details are available with any CENLA nursing advisors, Ms. Alicia Book, Ms. Chris Eding, Ms. Gwen Cope, or any of your CENLA Nursing faculty!

2) The Dora Douglas Briggs 2026-2027 Award application is open! This award presents one nursing student with a $500 award for the Fall and $500 for the SPRING. Students must be enrolled in CENLA nursing courses for the FALL and SPRING with an anticipated graduation of May 2027 or August 2027 (ASN students would be entering 3rd level in FALL; BSN students would be entering 3rd level in FALL; Accelerated BSN students would be entering level 2 and Mental Health in FALL). Big smiles for the VERY LAST test of NURSING SCHOOL!!! 💜💜

Thanks to the BSN Expansion Grant funded by the Rapides Foundation- our new medication carts are a wonderful addition to our student lab spaces! These medication carts allow students to access patient medications in a similar manner that mimics a hospital PYXIS system. Students are able to become familiar with the medication dispensary setup, learn how easily errors can occur and how to prevent medication errors, and be better prepared for clinical rotations in our hospitals.
