I am putting this out into the ether, in hope Chris G hears me...
As life goes on, you and age become a factor that ends up with friends, family, and fellow vets passing on. I received news the other day that a good friend passed away; he was a true warrior in all sense of the meaning. We had long debates and disagreed but always found common ground with no attitude or anger. It was nice to talk to a fellow vet who could listen to reason or come back to the conversation with facts and candor. Did matter who was right, we just moved on to the next topic.
As I sit here and write, I realize and count how many friends, family members, and fellow vets have passed on to a more remarkable journey.
No one prepares you for death and the feelings that come full circle as you sit there and remember the good time and bad times. As your glass of whiskey starts full to the brim and becomes empty with every sip in celebration for them. While this happens, you remember the moments that made them friends, family, or a fellow vet. It is always the bits of wisdom left behind you start to reflect and ponder upon to gain a different perspective on life, being a vet, or family. One thing I have figured out after our loved ones have left this place; there is always a lesson to be learned. I will leave you with a short saying that I like to say to Chris G.
