We mourn the loss of Dolly Parton, whose extraordinary legacy reaches far beyond music and entertainment.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she helped millions of children and families—across rural and urban communities—experience the joy and power of reading together. Her work reflected something we know deeply at NAFSCE: families are essential partners in children’s learning and development.

By expanding access to books and creating opportunities for families to read, talk, imagine, and learn together, Dolly demonstrated the transformative power of family engagement.

We are grateful for her generosity, imagination, and unwavering belief in every child. Her legacy will continue—one child, one family, and one book at a time. ❤️

How can states create stronger, more connected systems for family engagement?

We're excited to share this upcoming webinar from the State Leadership for Family Engagement national webinar series.

Leading for Impact: Building Statewide Family Engagement Systems and Cross-SEA Collaboration will explore how state leaders can strengthen family engagement leadership, collaborate across SEA offices, build leadership competencies, and connect family engagement to broader state priorities.

We're also excited to see NAFSCE Board Member Lacy Wood moderating the conversation, with Margaret Caspe, NAFSCE's Senior Consultant for Research and Strategic Initiatives, and leaders from the Colorado Department of Education joining the panel.

This September, we're excited to welcome Dr. Dana Suskind for a special NAFSCE webinar exploring her new book, Human Raised: Parenting in the Age of AI.

As AI becomes an increasingly common part of our daily lives, many parents and educators are asking the same question: How do we embrace new technology without losing the human connections that help children learn and thrive?

Drawing on decades of research—and her experiences as both a pediatric surgeon and mother of eight—Dr. Suskind will share practical insights for navigating technology while strengthening the relationships that matter most.

Whether you're a parent, educator, family engagement professional, or simply passionate about children's learning and development, we hope you'll join us for this timely conversation.
