Hereโs the truth: music class isnโt just for kids โ itโs a shared experience. Your energy, attention, and presence are the bridge that helps your child connect, learn, and grow through music. โค๏ธ
Here are five common mistakes I see parents and caregivers in our classes makeโฆ (and how to flip them!):
1๏ธโฃ They donโt sing. Your voice is your childโs favorite sound! Singing together releases oxytocin, strengthens language pathways, and helps your child feel safe and calm.
2๏ธโฃ They observe instead of participate. Watching quietly may feel polite, but engagement โ clapping, moving, modeling joy โ teaches focus, imitation, and rhythm.
3๏ธโฃ Theyโre on their phones. When attention shifts to a screen, kids lose that vital shared connection that drives early learning. Your presence is the lesson.
4๏ธโฃ They chat during class. Adult conversation sends the message that โlistening doesnโt matter.โ Stay tuned in โ your child will, too.
5๏ธโฃ They call out from across the room. Connection beats correction every time. Go over, get low, and model the behavior you want to see.
