Today is the memorial of St. Jane Frances de Chantal, the secondary patron of Bishop Ireton. After becoming a widow at 28, she became a nun. With her her spiritual director and friend, St. Francis de Sales, she founded the Order of the Visitation, a religious community dedicated to care for the sick and needy. May we follow her example and her words: "Be happy in serving our Lord and His holy Mother: serve with boundless joy and courage."
Let's give a warm welcome to our new faculty and staff who joined us for their first day of orientation today! We're grateful for these new additions to the BI community and know they will make wonderful Bishop Ireton Cardinals!

It is with sadness but also with faith in our Lord's death and resurrection that we share that former faculty member (and BI Faculty Hall of Fame member) David Scully passed away on July 29, 2023. Mr. Scully taught at Bishop Ireton from 1979-2005 and we know his influence was felt by the many students he taught. We pray for the repose of his soul and for all those who mourn his passing.

In the first two weeks of camp, campers and their families donated just shy of 1,000 pounds of food! We're grateful for the generosity of BI camp attendees.
Happy 4th of July from Bishop Ireton High School. God Bless America!

Today, we recognize Juneteenth, which is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. The artwork featured here, entitled "Juneteenth Madonna," was created by Brother Mickey McGrath, OSFS.
Some details about the image: Mary is shown with her head bowed and her arms raised in praise as she contemplates her son, Jesus, breaking the chains of slavery while standing in the healing waters of a deep river. Jesusโ halo is a sunflower rising above the cotton fields behind Him.
Maryโs body is draped in a quilt of many diverse colors and patterns. Mother and Son are wrapped in a womb-like shape outlined in pink, the symbolic liturgical color of Gaudete Sunday, the โLet us rejoiceโ day of the Advent season.
Please pray for our 18 students and four adults who are on their way to serve the people of Banica in the Dominican Republic for the next week. We're so grateful for their service to others!

She's just the 15th person to be inducted in the history of the school. She will be missed as she heads into retirement but her legacy will live on!
BI was packed last night as our Admissions team put on a great New Parent Orientation and new student event.
