🚌 We're looking for interested candidates to join our upcoming bus operator certification class!

This class is free to everyone who registers. Full-time drivers receive state retirement and state group health insurance.

Spots must be secured in advance for this class to take place, so please register by Oct. 20 to hold your seat. 🗓

Every student who gets to school on time is a student ready to learn. Our bus operators make that possible every day!

Some people make a difference loudly. Mrs. Kendra Lewis does it quietly.

As the instructional coach and Community Engagement Coordinator at D.F. Huddle Elementary, Mr. Lewis is known for being calm, observant, and always ready to help. She notices what's happening and steps in before anyone has to ask. Teachers come to her and leave feeling supported, never judged.

"Mrs. Lewis reminds me that sometimes a simple idea and a little encouragement can make a big difference," colleague Kashonda Sewell shares.

Mrs. Lewis is a Face of Impact because her work doesn't depend on being seen. You can find it in more engaged classrooms and colleagues who know someone they have a source of support.

✂️ 🎉 This afternoon, we cut the ribbon on the Crenshaw Fieldhouse, named for the man who started it all for ASH athletics!

Butch Crenshaw led the Trojans as their first head football coach and athletic director from 1969 to 1973, then went on to serve our community on the Rapides Parish School Board and the Alexandria City Council. To make the day even more meaningful, Mayor Jacques Roy proclaimed today Butch Crenshaw Day in the city of Alexandria.

ASH Head Football Coach, Thomas Bachman, put it best: every day matters, and each of us has a responsibility to make a difference in the lives of the people around us.

To the voters of District 62, thank you! This fieldhouse was made possible by the bond approved in 2022, and it will serve ASH students for generations.

To the Crenshaw family, elected officials, district leaders, and everyone who came out today, thank you for taking the time to celebrate with us. Your presence made this day even more special!

Every school day is amplified by outstanding teachers, by athletics, by the arts, and by extracurricular and co-curricular activities that help students discover who they are. Every day a student is in class is a day they grow!

🎉 ✂ The ribbon is cut at Caroline Dormon Junior High! This morning we opened a new classroom wing that brings students several new classrooms, a music room, a health clinic, new restrooms, and an enclosed play space.

We also took time to honor two families. The new wing is dedicated to Mayor David Butler and his wife, Linda, for Mayor Butler's work bringing a school to Woodworth and his support of it ever since. The library is dedicated to Dr. Gary Jones, former superintendent of schools, and his wife, Sarah, a lifelong teacher and reading coach.

Congratulations to the Butler & Jones families, and to the students who get to learn and play in this space!

We thank the voters of District 57 who made this expansion possible!

Walk through Ball Elementary and you'll see Mrs. Ashley Doyle's work everywhere.

It starts in her classroom, bright and decorated to match her energy. Her eyes light up when she talks about what she does, and her 6th graders feel it. She's fun, she's empathetic, and her hands-on Math and Science lessons are the kind students look forward to.

It's on the basketball court and in FCA, where she builds connections with students and brings community members in to encourage them. It's in her colleagues' classrooms, where teachers try new strategies with more confidence because of her work as Math Content Leader. And it's on the walls, in the banners and templates she designs for the whole school.

Her assistant principal, Mrs. Elizabeth Bruce, said it best: "She uses her talents to make everyone around her better."

Today is National Parent Volunteer Group Appreciation Day, and we want to say thank you!

Across Rapides Parish, parents and community members show up for our schools week after week. They give their time freely and consistently, and we're better because of it. Many of them we know by name. Many more work quietly behind the scenes. We see all of you.

When we talk about amplifying the culture, we are talking about you. The volunteers who make copies, run concession stands, read with students, cheer from the sidelines, and step in wherever they're needed turn good schools into great communities.

Thank you for being our partners in the work of educating children. We're so grateful for you!!

🌳 Tioga High FFA hosted the FFA Forestry Invitational last week at Buhlow Lake Recreation Area, bringing students from across Louisiana to Rapides Parish for a morning of competition. Students put their forestry knowledge and skills to the test, and we are proud of the Tioga FFA members and advisor who made this event happen.

A big thank you to Roy O. Martin for providing lunch for every student in attendance. Your support of agriculture and forestry education makes a real difference for our students!

Ball Elementary cut the ribbon today on its new campus addition! 🎉 ✂️

Three classrooms, a multipurpose room that doubles as a storm shelter, two pavilions with basketball courts, new picnic tables, and covered walkways.

This means more room to learn, play at recess, and a safer campus every day!
We thank the Ward 10 community for their consistent support of their schools and for making this possible as a result of their 2023 bond vote!
