The Academy @ Metropolitan School of the Arts is a college preparatory performing arts conservatory for budding young artists who are dedicated to high caliber academics and pre-professional performing arts education. The progressive, comprehensive, mastery-based high school curriculum is an intensive four-year program that prepares students for acceptance to some of the most selective colleges an

d universities. College-prep (standard, honors and AP) humanities, mathematics, social studies and sciences, and world language courses offer students the appropriate level of challenge based on their post-secondary interests. Students in grades 7-8 enjoy the opportunities to design personalized assignments and research projects as they explore the humanities, social studies, science, mathematics and world languages. Middle School students are also given the option to begin accruing high school credits in mathematics and world languages. Daily conservatory style performing arts training in dance, music and theater motivate each student to become a highly disciplined expert learner and complex communicator across disciplines. As a community rich in stellar performing arts, outstanding resident performers and avid arts patrons, the DC area is the perfect home to build a school that will foster the next generation of professional dancers, actors, singers and musicians. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to making Metropolitan nationally recognized as a top school of the gifted young artists along with such fine institutions as Interlochen, Idyllwild Arts Academy and Walnut Hill. The Academy @ Metropolitan builds on the rich 15-year foundation of excellent arts education developed by the faculty, staff and leadership of Metropolitan Fine Arts Center. We opened our doors in September 2013 and continue to welcome students who have inspired us to build, dream and soar! Located in the bustling environment of the Kingstowne Community in Northern Virginia, Metropolitan School of the Arts has dedicated academic classrooms, dance studios, music studios and rehearsal space. We welcome you to explore our rigorous, fully accredited academic curriculum alongside our conservatory style performing arts training program in the areas of dance, music theater, theater performance and music. Please contact our admissions team at [email protected] to reserve an opportunity to shadow and audition for this ground breaking opportunity

As we continue to welcome new faculty for our 2026–2027 season, we’re excited to introduce Matteo Mangialetti to Metropolitan School of the Arts!

A Washington, D.C.-area pianist specializing in dance and vocal music, Matteo began his professional career with Richmond Ballet in 2006 and has since collaborated with leading dance institutions and artists throughout the country.

Matteo is also the founder of Little City Opera Project, which launched in 2023 with Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor.
