This Saturday, Urban Sketching returns to the Garden District at 10 a.m. for Sketchin’ in the Neighborhood. The group will meet at 2121 White Street, Alexandria and spend the morning drawing from the surroundings, and you're invited!

Urban Sketching is a relaxed, community-centered practice of drawing what is actually around you. Participants might sketch architecture, trees, streets, people, or small details that are easy to overlook when moving through a familiar neighborhood. You do not need to consider yourself an artist to participate. All experience levels are welcome, and the emphasis is on looking, noticing, and enjoying the process. Visit www.fumca.org/art .

Art is one of the focuses of the church, with hosts to the many beautiful paintings and art pieces. The church works on fostering this connection with the community, through all of the art ministry events offered.

Step away from daily demands to rest, pray, and reconnect with the Creator through a quiet day of visual art, reflection, and community led by Rev. Jean Sanders, Pastor & Artist in Residence. Held on Saturday October 17 from 9AM–3PM, participants will be guided through simple art-based prayer activities with time for silence, sharing, and fellowship. No prior art experience is needed—whether you enjoy making art, want to pray in new ways, or simply need space for quiet reflection, you are warmly invited.

Registration is required by Sunday, October 11, at 3:00 p.m. with a suggested donation of $30 per person (scholarships are available). Register at www.fumca.org/art .
