Potomac Classical is growing and hiring as we gear up for another wonderful year! We are looking to hire a full-time 4th Grade Teacher (Flex schedule: 3 days of classroom instruction & 2 days work from home). We offer health benefits as well!
The 4th Grade Teacher provides classroom instruction to students in language arts, math, history, science and beginning Latin. The teacher guides students through the routines, procedures, classes, and tasks of the school day. The position requires an educator who is a mature Christian who loves teaching and shepherding children. He or she should be a person who is personable, organized, and committed to providing a caring and engaging learning environment in which students’ minds, hearts, and souls are cultivated and nurtured.
We count it a tremendous privilege to work alongside parents to help students learn, grow, and flourish. This work goes far beyond simply importing knowledge and grading exams. We aim to invest in the lives of our students, partnering with families to nurture the seeds of wisdom and faith that will help them bear fruit for a lifetime.
Reach out if you're interested or know someone who might be a good fit. Feel free to spread the word! [email protected]

This is our first year to have an 8th grade class and we decided to take the leap and have them take the Classical Learning Test. I already knew our students scored well on traditional assessments but as a founding Head of a classical school I was nervous to see how they’d rank against students at other classical Christian schools…
Potomac Classical’s 8th graders scored 25 points beyond the national average in the classical school arena. Every single student individually scored above average. I’ve been sitting on this news for months because I don’t want to attract parents who primarily prioritize test scores; now that enrollment has wrapped up the timing feels more appropriate.
But to what do I attribute this fantastic news?
I am confident that numerous factors have conspired to elevate a Potomac Classical education. To name a few:
• low-to-no tech classrooms (less distractions)
• small class sizes
• a remarkable 6:1 student-teacher ratio
• consistent and faithful parent engagement (!!!)
• students being personally known and loved
• faculty that are themselves life-long learners who excel at their craft
• professional development being built into our operating budget at 3x the percentage ISM suggests
• a time-tested philosophy of education
Affirmingly, pursuing what will profit us for eternity is not at the expense of pursuing excellence academically.
Academic excellence is simply a by-product of virtue formation, Christian discipleship, and a pursuit of the liberal arts within a collaborative model.
I am confident that a distinct advantage our students have is their parents’ presence in their lives and their engagement in their education. Collaborative schooling has my heart.
Are you a mature Christian with a passion for shaping the affections of the next generation through the teaching of the liberal arts in the light of Truth? Or do you have strong communication and organizational skills and desire to join our administration team? has opportunities for both!
Consider joining Potomac Classical’s growing team!
As we add additional sections in our Lower School, we need an additional Kindergarten Teacher and a 4th Grade Teacher. We also need additional support in our Admissions and Student Support departments to accommodate the growth in our student body!
The Lower Grammar Teachers provide classroom instruction to students in language arts, math, history, science and beginning Latin. The teacher guides students through the routines, procedures, classes, and tasks of the school day. The position requires an educator who is a mature Christian who loves teaching and shepherding children.
