We are proud to spotlight another remarkable product of Peabody whose life reflects purpose, leadership, service, and a commitment to creating opportunities for others.
Attorney Ingrid F. Johnson, a 1992 Honors Graduate of Peabody Magnet High School.
A justice seeker, multipreneur, social activist, change agent, community servant, humanitarian, and purpose-walking believer, Attorney Johnson has spent more than 26 years serving others through law, leadership, entrepreneurship, ministry, and community engagement.
After graduating from Peabody, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree, magna cm laude, from Grambling State University in 1996 and went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in 1999. She is a licensed attorney in Louisiana and has served in several distinguished roles, including General Counsel for the Louisiana Second Injury Board under Governors Kathleen Blanco and Bobby Jindal and Assistant Attorney General with the Louisiana Department of Justice, where she became the first Black person and first woman to serve in the Insurance Fraud Section.
Her commitment to service extends far beyond the courtroom.
In 2002, Attorney Johnson founded D.R.E.A.M. (Determined to Reach, Expose and Motivate), Inc., a vision that continues to impact generations through youth leadership development, women’s leadership, and community initiatives. Through D.R.E.A.M. First, D.R.E.A.M. LeadHERship, and D.R.E.A.M. NEXT, she continues to inspire young people, women, and communities to walk boldly in their purpose.
Her impact is also deeply rooted in education. Through the Attorney Ingrid F. Johnson Higher Learning Award, she has sponsored more than 35 first-generation students from Peabody Magnet High School attending Grambling State University—creating pathways for students to pursue higher education and build their own legacies.
From serving as a motivational speaker, leadership trainer, Bible study leader, and business coach to providing pro bono legal ministry to the elderly, Attorney Johnson continues to pour into individuals, families, churches, schools, and communities throughout Louisiana and beyond.
Her service has been recognized through numerous honors, including the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Lifetime Achievement Award, Fox 48’s Hometown Hero Award, the City of Alexandria Human Relations Commission’s Spirit of Community Award, the City of Alexandria’s Outstanding Citizen Award, and the YWCA’s Women of Achievement Award in Public Service, among many others.
She continues to serve her community through numerous organizations and boards, including the Friends of the Rapides Parish Library, the Grambling University National Alumni Association, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, where she has served in leadership at the local, state, regional, and national levels.
And perhaps one of the most beautiful parts of her story is that she continues to give back to the very school that helped shape her journey.
Attorney Ingrid F. Johnson is a true example of what it means to be a product of Peabody—educated to lead, empowered to serve, and committed to opening doors for those coming behind her.
