💖 CENLA has a big heart for little readers!

Funding for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in LaSalle Parish is set to run out in November 2026, putting free books for an anticipated 530 local children in jeopardy next year.

Treehouse Children's Museum is launching A Heart for Imagination, a campaign to raise $7,000, and we’re asking local businesses, organizations, families, and individuals to put their hearts behind childhood literacy!

📚 Our first $4,138 will secure the funding needed to continue Imagination Library service for an anticipated 530 children in LaSalle Parish next year.

💖 Then, we’ll bring our Community Heart to life! It will be a sparkling, rhinestone covered permanent tribute to Dolly Parton, childhood literacy, imagination, and the CENLA community that came together to make it possible.

Businesses and organizations are especially invited to become official A Heart for Imagination sponsors, with sponsorship opportunities from $50 to $1,000+. Every sponsor will be recognized through Treehouse social media and sponsor recognition at the museum.

Every year, an average of 37 children die from heatstroke after being left or trapped in a vehicle. Never leave a child alone in a vehicle and always be sure to check the backseat before walking away.

Don't forget to share these important reminders:

A – Avoid Heatstroke: Never leave a child alone in a car, not even for a minute. Lock your car doors when parked so children cannot climb inside to play.

C – Create Reminders: Keep a visual cue in your car. Put a stuffed animal in the front passenger seat when your child is in the back. Or, place your phone, purse, or work bag in the back seat next to the child.

T – Take Action: Call 911 immediately if you see a child alone in a vehicle. Emergency responders are trained to handle these critical situations.

In 1995, Dolly Parton started mailing books to children in her home county to inspire children to love reading in honor of her dad, who couldn’t read or write.

That idea lives here too. Every month, thousands of children in Rapides and LaSalle Parishes, along with countless others across Louisiana and so many places around the world, find a book in the mailbox — because of neighbors who fund it, volunteers who run it, and a woman from Sevier County, TN who started it all. We will continue to carry on her legacy, and are so proud to be given the opportunity to do so.
