What are we painting this week?

Meet Franny the Flamingo! She joins The Art Club menagerie which also includes our OG Spot the dog, Art(hur) the horse, and Fizz and Bo, the clownfish.

In honor of our first Summer Art Play of 2026 coming THIS THURSDAY, here are some of our favorite moments from last summer!

We painted, we squeezed, we stacked, we squished, we strung together, we sprayed, we stamped, we scooped….basically a lot of s verbs 😂

Let’s give our kids a summer of creative experiences, trying new things, getting messy, and making memories. The Art Club’s caregiver-and-child Art Play classes are the perfect way to do this.

At long last…Summer Art Play dates are here!

This summer is exciting because we will offer both OUTDOOR and INDOOR classes!

June and July classes will be held at Belle Haven Park, a gorgeous space overlooking the Potomac.

In August, we will be partnering with the new preschool in Old Town! We are super excited to be using their beautiful new space, which is Reggio-inspired, just like The Art Club! staff will be on hand to answer any questions you might have about the school.

The Art Club is excited to be at the Fairlington Farmers Market Sunday, June 7! Look for our tent and join us for art activities in the shade 😎

This market is amazing and features so many local companies presenting gourmet pastries, fresh-pressed juice, coffee, prepared foods, fresh local produce, and so much more.

PLUS the amazing Fairlington playground is right there!

So let’s recap:

- grab your coffee and some fresh pastries for breakfast
- purchase some produce and prepared foods for the week
- come with your kids to The Art Club’s tent for FREE art activities
- play at the enormous playground til lunch
- go home and everyone collapses for a nap

This is a lovely Sunday morning you don’t want to miss!

Today preschoolers made these caregiver-and-me Spin Art Space Sculptures inspired by . Children loved the process!

Some adults were surprised when I said children could squeeze as much paint and glitter as they wanted.

If you can’t say yes to squeezing paint here, where can you?!

My homeschool group at was so excited about how their marble games turned out!

The goal was to get the marble from the starting chute to the scoring cups. Children devised obstacles and themed elements to challenge the path across the board.

A little engineering, a little art, a lot of recycled materials…my favorite kind of project! 🫶🏻♻️

Friendly reminder to dress yourself and your child in clothes that can get messy and potentially stained!

While I always use paint that is labeled “washable,” I cannot guarantee it won’t occasionally stain clothing or shoes.

That cute outfit? As much as I’d love to see it, keep it at home! This is a time for old clothes so you can feel relaxed and say YES while your child explores.

Consider Crocs or rain boots that can be easily wiped and save your canvas/fabric/leather shoes at home.

Outsource the mess and say YES to messy play at The Art Club!

We had so much fun at yesterday’s Art Play in Old Town! Great weather and camaraderie for scooping, pouring, pushing, pulling, brushing, sticking, parachuting…we did just about everything!
