ARTA Alexandria Retired Teachers Association ARTA works in cooperation with the EAA, VEA, NEA, VRTA, and AARP.

The purpose of the Alexandria Retired Teachers Association is to promote the economic, social, and professional status of retirees. Pursuant to that end, as stated in Article II of the ARTA constitution, we want to encourage members to maintain interest and participation in educational, legislative, and community activities, as well as to foster good fellowship among retirees. Jones, who retired last fall, had worked as a school security officer for the district. In high school, he was a fullback on T.C. Williams’ 1971 team, whose championship run was dramatized in the 2000 Disney film “Remember the Titans.”
