Congratulations, seniors! Your teachers had a lot of fun surprising you with yard signs and can't wait to celebrate with you in person. Congrats! You did it!!
The Howard Gardner School is a small, independent, educationally-progressive school serving grades 6-12. At HGS, we strive to approach learning from all angles.
This means integrating academic subjects, life experiences, and community participation. This approach allows each student to find their strengths and claim ownership over their education. Whether a student is looking for an alternative high school or middle school, an educational environment where their non-traditional learning style will be understood and appreciated, or a safe place with a nurturing and caring community, we can and will work with each student as the individual that they are.
Operating as usual

This year's senior projects are well under way (via Discord)! We're so proud of the Class of 2020 and would like to congratulate them on jobs very well done. They created bee and butterfly gardens, perfected culinary delights, streamed games and created podcasts, designed fitness blogs and nature guides, translated Amharic poetry, created animations from scratch and came up with brilliant digital designs. Bravo!👏
Last year, six of our seniors embarked on an oral history project with local Vietnam Veterans as part of their "America in the 1960's" history class. They researched the war, came up with questions, interviewed the veterans (and recorded/edited the videos!), transcribed their experiences, and made a website from scratch. It launched at last year's Arts & Sciences Festival, but we're sharing it now (in the spirit of our upcoming Virtual Arts & Sciences Festival). A job very well done. Enjoy!

Keep your eyes open for our annual Arts & Sciences festival! This year it will be virtual, but we’re excited to share the unique and creative stuff our students and faculty have been working on all year. Stay tuned! Until then, here’s a sneak peek.
Keeping the spirit of HGS alive with our Community Content! Each week, we’re offering a variety of unique virtual classes for our students. Featured here: mask sewing and arcade building with Wendy, origami with Kim, carburetors with Alex, and improv and documentary discussions with Kayla. 📽📚✂️🎨 @ The Howard Gardner School
