AIHEC staff will provide an overview of the funding opportunity, including application requirements and FAQs. Specifically, the webinar agenda will include a description of the purpose of the program, proposal submission requirements, and examples of project areas that are consistent with Building Bridges priorities. Thank you to Senator Lankford (OK) and Boozman (AR) for inviting the College of the Muscogee Nation (CMN) to speak at the Farm Bill Roundtable this morning in Oklahoma City. Craig Barnes, Natural Resource Instructor at CMN provided comments on behalf of TCUs, to discuss key recommendations that are essential to continuing the mission of our 1994 Institutions to address the growing agricultural needs of Indian Country. Tribal Colleges received federal land-grant status in 1994 and continue to provide community-based instruction to Tribal and rural communities.

Concluding our Aseto’ne Network Sweetgrass Research Video Series, we bring you the work of Northwest Indian College student Justice Black Williams, who spent the summer of 2023 collecting water samples from marine and freshwater sources. Justice and her mentor, Dr. Brandi Kamermans, ran polymerase chain reaction (PCR) protocols on these samples to extract and document the environmental DNA of the greater Bellingham, Washington watershed.

Through her internship at Navajo Tech’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing, Deirdra utilized a CT scanner to inspect additive manufacturing pieces without damaging them. Deirdra and her mentor, Dr. Scott Halliday, believe this technology will be vital to health and economic improvements for Native communities in the future.
