The tutoring year has finished for our Book Buddies and we are so proud of the progress they've made! Tutors were able to present their Buddies with the gift books selected at the Book Fair and many students wrote sweet notes of their own for their tutors.

We are not yet done tallying session numbers and collecting testing data, but we do know a great many books were read and friendships formed. Bravo, tutors and students, for a year well done. 👏

Polk Book Buddies were energized by a special read aloud with Gaston Araoz of Dominion Energy last week. Learning about power and solar energy was fun and informative - students were bursting with excitement to share their new knowledge with their teachers! Thanks to Dominion Energy for sparking a love of reading ☀️📖

Yesterday we held our annual book fair (supplied by R.E.A.D.) where tutors got to shop for gift books for their Buddies! Next week, during the last week of tutoring, students will receive encouragement to continue their progress over the summer break with books hand-picked by their tutors.

Special thanks to R.E.A.D., our book fair volunteers, and the donors that make this event possible! 🌟

As Volunteer Appreciation Month comes to a close, we want to take a moment to celebrate our incredible Book Buddies tutors! We truly could not do what we do without them (all 357 this year). Not only do our volunteers help hundreds of Alexandria's students become confident readers, they also form real relationships with their Buddies. Thank you, volunteers! 👏🌟

Teaching a child to read gives that child the world. A world of possibility, imagination, wonder, and hope.

Because of our 211 incredible supporters, we reached our goals - $80,250 raised and all matches & challenges met. We even won a prize because we had so many donors! This community's generosity means 300 children will receive free, state-of-the-art reading tutoring.

Thank you, ATC sponsors and donors, for believing and so very generously investing in the promise of our children. You're giving them the world.

ATC has programs in every public elementary school in the City of Alexandria, on track to deliver over 11,000 tutoring sessions to 300 students in 2025-2026. Book Buddies tutoring works, but we need your help to make it happen.

It's time to ACT! You can make a long-term difference in child's life by making a donation today. It takes approximately $1,600 per year to teach one child. Any donation is greatly appreciated. Visit alexandriatutors.org to donate or text read2succeed to 844-844-6844!
