🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡 Get ready, AMS! 🧡🖤💛🖤💛

Project Outreach is honored to support our amazing EMERGE students as they head to the Special Olympics on Tuesday, April 28, 2026! These athletes represent determination, heart, and true school spirit.

As a school, we will line the halls to give them the sendoff they deserve—full of cheers, love, and encouragement! This is more than just an event… it’s about inclusion, unity, and celebrating EVERY student.

Let’s show up BIG for our athletes and remind them how proud we are!

Our entire school will line the halls as they walk through, cheering them on—and we need YOUR help to make it extra special!

✨ We are asking for donations of crepe paper streamers to decorate the hallways.

The leadership team is to be commended for organizing a successful spring party. Although this post is belated, it is worth noting that students had an "eggster" good time hiding eggs for Warrens Winners. The event featured a lighthearted competition, including an egg race, head shoulders knees and egg, and pin the tail on the bunny. The smiles show the fun time they had and they were extra excited when Mr. Toney joined in the games.

Shooting 2 Change 2026!!
Autism Acceptance through Athletics!

- As a part of tonight’s Shooting 2 Change event, we want to inform each of you about the effects and
impact of autism in our state as well as our country. Autism affects 1 in every 31 children born
according to the Center for Disease Control. It is 5 times more likely in boys than girls and crosses all
racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups. This neurological disorder has no clear cause or cure and
treatments can be very expensive. For more information about autism please contact the Autism Society
of Alabama, autism speaks, or Project Outreach Gulf Coast.
- Autism affects about 50,000 people in the state of Alabama alone. That’s twice the enrollment of
Auburn University or 1 and ½ times the enrollment at the University of Alabama. Although awareness
is something that always needs to have some focus, our greatest needs this year is directed at acceptance
and understanding. Accepting individuals with disabilities is a challenging for many. Even more
challenging is the idea of understanding what life is like for those impacted by autism and their families.
We can do our part in many ways by just learning about their stories. We can do our part by helping to
keep Shooting 2 Change the way we see others.
- Project Outreach Gulf Coast is a non-profit organization that has sought to connect individuals with
disabilities to their non-disabled peers for the better of them both. One of their goals is to build school
based service clubs to help see change in the way students with disabilities are treated and served in the
local schools in Alabama. We are proud to be a part of this wonderful program along with many other schools in our state. If you are interested in a group like this starting at your school, please contact
us at [email protected]

🏀 Same Team, Same Goal: Shooting 2 Change is BACK! 🧩

We are beyond excited to host the 3rd annual Shooting 2 Change event at Alexandria Middle School! We’re celebrating Autism Awareness through the power of athletics and community.

Basketball and autism might seem different on the surface, but they both teach us the same vital lessons: teamwork, perseverance, and heart. Whether we are on the court or in the classroom, we are all part of the same team. Every student has something incredible to contribute!

Join us tomorrow night: 📍 Where: High School Gym 🕕 When: Tomorrow at 6:00 PM 🏀 Special Event: Watch our unique athletes shoot hoops during the halftime of the girls' game!

Come out, cheer loud, and help us prove that inclusion wins every time. Show up, wear your school colors (or blue for autism awareness!), and help us spread the message of connection. See you there!

Sweet memories from years past! The sweet smiles and the joy that fills the gym is priceless!
