A NEW CHAPTER IN LEARNING AT BISHOP BROSSART!

We are proud to announce an exciting new opportunity for our students! This year, Bishop Brossart High School is launching an Engineering Program through Project Lead The Way (PLTW), giving our students hands-on opportunities to explore engineering, innovation, problem-solving, and real-world STEM skills.

And we’re dreaming even bigger! As part of our vision for the future, plans are underway to transform our current library into a dedicated STEM & Innovation Lab, a space designed for collaboration, creativity, hands-on learning, and turning ideas into reality.

The architectural renderings below offer a glimpse of what we hope to create as we continue investing in innovative learning opportunities and preparing our students for the future.

🦃 Introducing the Turkey of the Week Award 🦃

For years, the Light of Christ Award recognized a student who brought hope, kindness, and goodness into the lives of others, striving to be an example of Christ’s love and embodying Bishop Brossart’s motto, “Charity First.”

This year, we are giving that tradition a new name with a very special meaning.

Turkey of the Week is a term of endearment inspired by our late Sister Tereze, who had a special way of calling everyone a "turkey" ❤️

Each week, we will recognize a student who reminds us of the kind of person Sister Tereze always took notice of. Someone who demonstrates kindness, joy, compassion, and goodness to those around them.

The Turkey of the Week will help carry on Sister Tereze’s legacy and spirit throughout the halls of Bishop Brossart High School, while continuing to recognize students who live out “Charity First” each and every day.

We were excited to welcome Eian Elmer to our gym as he stopped by to get some shots up and get a workout in!

Eian was a key member of last year’s Miami University team that made history by going 31-0 in the regular season. As the next step in his journey, Eian will play this year at the University of Wisconsin, competing in the Big Ten.

Our students had the opportunity to get a firsthand look at what Division I basketball looks like, watching Eian put in the work and seeing the level of skill, intensity and preparation it takes to compete at the highest level.

Students also had the opportunity to meet and speak with Cara Daugherty, who works in NIL and athlete branding, giving them a look at another important side of today’s college athletics and the opportunities available to student-athletes beyond the court. 🏀 📸

Our Anatomy students got a little creative in the lab by performing “autopsies” on pickles! 🥒🔬

Through this hands-on activity, students learned key directional terms used to describe the locations of body structures, while also becoming familiar with the terminology of dissection tools.

It’s not every day you get to host a multi-platinum, #1 hit country songwriter on campus!

We were honored to welcome Nashville hit songwriter Dan Couch to Bishop Brossart to speak with our students. Dan brought his guitar and performed a few songs, but the real heart of the afternoon was his powerful message about character, resilience, and perseverance.

Dan shared his journey of taking a leap of faith across the country to pursue his dream in Nashville. What followed wasn't instant fame, but nearly 20 years of intense grit and adversity, delivering potato chips at 5:00 AM and working blue-collar jobs before ever landing his first hit. His story was a masterclass for our students on staying the course, fighting through rejection, and trusting the process.

Today, Dan’s music speaks for itself. He has penned massive songs including:

"Wondering Why" – The Red Clay Strays (3× Platinum viral phenomenon)

"Somethin' 'Bout a Truck" – Kip Moore (3× Platinum #1 hit)

"Dear Rodeo" – Cody Johnson & Reba McEntire (Platinum)

"Hey Pretty Girl" – Kip Moore (Platinum)

"Same Day, Different Bottle" – Lauren Alaina

To top off an incredible day, Mr. Blair arranged a special surprise: Mayor Andy Schabell officially proclaimed August 21, 2026, as Dan Couch Day in the City of Alexandria!
