The NASA Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Policy and Strategic Communications (PSC) outreach team supports NASA's education goal of promoting STEM education through its K-12 and university-level activities. PSC also attends and conducts public outreach activities related to Space Communications and Navigation for the general public through the Speakers Bureau, exhibits, and other activities. At Techstravaganza, SCaN will provide information on internships for high schoolers, hand out NASA items, and host interactive activities.

Our next exhibitor is the Art of Problem Solving Academy Vienna, which aims to create interactive educational opportunities for avid students of mathematics. AoPS is also reaching out to students of other problem solving disciplines, including informatics, physics, and programming. Their booth will involve solving logic puzzles!

Our next exhibitor is NOVA Systemic, which is Northern Virginia Community College's STEM Program that prepares students for in-demand technology careers and expands regional capacity for producing STEM talent. They encourage and engage youth in exploring and experiencing STEM subjects beyond the classroom at an early age. This year at Techstravaganza, they are hosting a booth complete with VEX robots and a driving challenge. They will also be teaching coding using OSMO.

Fairfax County Public Library builds community and promotes literacy through programming resources, community spaces, and collections of educational and recreational resources. At Techstravaganza, their booth will be promoting the TechLab located at Sherwood Regional Library, the first and only makerspace for the library system. There will be demos, brochures, and giveaways!

Fairfax County’s Wastewater Management program protects public health and the region’s water quality through the collection and treatment of wastewater in one of the nation’s largest sanitary sewer systems. They treat the dirty wastewater from our toilets and drains to achieve state and federal water quality standards and return it back into the region’s waterways. Mason Experimental Geometry Lab at George Mason University aims to share the beautiful and fun side of mathematics with everyone. Girl Scout Troop 54090 empowers women in mathematics. Troop members have been working on their Math in Nature badges and learning about female mathematicians who have overcome challenges to make their voices heard. At Techstravaganza, the troop members will run three math stations: tessellations with pattern blocks, spider web crafts with rotational symmetry, and a probability dice game.
