Please sign up & bring a friend!

Thanks!

I love the Little Theatre for it"s selection of shows. My main comment is that as and older person with less than great hearing, I miss some important lines. In the Hill House, Eleanor speaks so softly that she can barely be heard in the back of the house. I wonder why they don't use the wireless mikes more. They are used in the musicals so I know they are available. It's not the theaters problem to correct my hearing, I'm not deaf..just old, but missing lines loses the meaning. Using mikes could make the sound more uniform. Theodora is very loud while Eleanor is too soft. Be aware that unless you are in front, Eleanor will be hard to hear.
Could I get captions for one of your performances?
Extend The Producers! 😀

Look who our long-time LTA students Everett and Jasper met when they were in Edinburgh for just a day this past summer! Everett recognized Sir Ian at once and went up and introduced himself. Sir Ian was so gracious, shook hands, and asked the boys where they were from and if they'd seen Lord of the Rings. What a great summertime memory! Learning how to introduce yourself confidently is something our instructors teach all their students - and now you know why! Doug Sanders

Class: Free Audio Book Recording and Producing Master Class
Details: LTA’s Voice Over instructor, Mike Baker, Jr., is offering a free Master Class in Audio Book Recording and Producing. The Speaker will be one of Mike’s former students, Mr. Doug Sanders, Esquire
Description:
Doug Sanders has been into the audio-visual arts most of his life. He won several media fair awards and entered college as a radio/TV/film major before being seduced by political science and a law degree. After taking Mike’s Voiceover Artistry Class, Doug delved into the Audio Book World. His narration of Doctor Mosquito, written by Richard C. Dellinger, garnered him a number of national awards. Doug says doing an audiobook was much more than just narration -- he had to produce it as well, which brought him back to many of the things he enjoyed in his youth. Doug also likes giving back to an industry that has been kind to him thus far. We are so grateful he has agreed to offer free audio book tutelage in a 90-minute Audio Books Master Class. It will be offered via Zoom. All of Mike Baker’s former Voiceover students are encouraged to attend as well as any other would be audio book enthusiasts. The Master Class is open to all. Just click on the link or put the Zoom address in your browser and join us.

Photos from The Little Theatre of Alexandria's post 08/19/2022

Since 2015, The Little Theatre of Alexandria has been recognizing outstanding high school students by awarding $1000 annual scholarships each to two talented high school juniors and seniors who have participated in at least one Main Stage production, or have been actively involved as volunteers.

This year's $1000 Technical Scholarship Award was presented to Fiona Stephens. A graduate of Alexandria City School, Fiona took her first class at LTA at the age of six. In 2018, Fiona was one of seven high schoolers chosen to participate in LTA's inaugural Student Ambassador Program. Since that time, she has volunteered extensively; helping with classes and workshops, chaperoning children during the Old Town Parades, organizing costumes, helping with Opening Night Parties, as well as performing at a number of events. Fiona has also served as a crew member for four mainstage productions, and this past spring Stage Managed both the Adult and Youth Showcases. This month, Fiona moves to Fredericksburg, where she will be studying English and drama at Mary Washington College.

The recipient of the $1000 Performance Scholarship Award was presented to Lindsey Gattuso. Lindsey, who is entering her senior year at West Potomac, has been involved at The Little Theatre for a number of years, both as a student, a volunteer and as a performer. In 2019 Lindsey was accepted into the Student Ambassador Program, where she has volunteered on a regular basis, including helping with weekly classes, ushering, and set builds. Lindsey's Main Stage performances at The Little Theatre include productions of Christmas Carol and Ragtime.

We congratulate Fiona and Lindsey on their awards and thank them for their service to our community over the last few years. For information on LTA's High School Scholarship Award program and the Student Ambassador Program, please see https://thelittletheatre.com/education/.
