Miss Vicky's Playhouse

Miss Vicky's Playhouse Miss Vicky’s Playhouse provides quality childcare services to our community. Conveniently located for your commute to work via Route 50, I-66, 395 and 495.

Miss Vicky has opened her home and heart to a small, family-oriented, learning center for your child to grow, play, explore and succeed academically. Miss Vicky and assistant(s) are able to offer infants, toddlers and preschool age children a good alternative to larger commercial centers by providing more one-on-one attention in a nurturing home atmosphere. Miss Vicky’s mission is to create a fun,

clean and safe learning environment for your child, while encouraging social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. She has carefully planned a playful and supporting educational curriculum designed for each individual child’s age. The program includes Spanish immersion through circle time, arts and crafts, free and structured-play, music, song and dance and various creative and educational projects. Miss Vicky’s family daycare and preschool meets all the requirements established by the state of Virginia. Miss Vicky and assistants understand that you are trusting them to care for your child, and they take this responsibility very seriously. The home has an open door policy, allowing parents to stop by at any time to observe their child and briefly talk to teacher and/or assistant(s). The home-based daycare and preschool is located directly off Leesburg Pike (Route 7), between Seven Corners and Bailey’s Crossroads. Please send a message or call Miss Vicky directly to learn more about her child care program.

Missing these little ones❣️ Hoping everyone is practicing social distancing and staying home. Please stay safe and healthy!

I have been receiving a lot of questions about our schedule and activities. Here’s my advice:

1. GET OUTSIDE! My daycare kiddos LOVE spending time outside. We walk around the neighborhood, in the wooden area by the backyard, run around, play with the outdoor toys, blowing bubbles/bubble machine, chalk, they absolutely love to get dirty (that’s right!) playing with dirt and mud, listening to the outdoor noises and identifying outside sounds like airplanes, helicopters, birds, police car sirens, firetrucks, ambulance, etc.
2. Have you been receiving packages? 📦 bring them out and have your little ones color, place stickers, bows, wrapping paper...get creative!
3. Sensory bins-grab a bin and put measuring cups, spoons, tools, etc. Fill it with items you already have at home-rice, beans, shaving cream, water and soap (car/toys wash).
4. Water! Use multiple bins fill with water and have them pour water into cups or pitchers and repeat. Add plastic toys, food coloring, and don’t be afraid to get creative.
5. Art 🖍 🎨 bring out a bunch of art supplies and have your little ones use their imagination. They will love it and will be entertained!

Families trying to manage WFH and keeping their children on a routine. Here’s our daily schedule and suggestions.
Circle time
• Lots of singing in English and Spanish!
• Good morning song, ABCs, counting numbers, days of the week, etc
• Ending circle time with their favorites: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, Old McDonald, La Vaca Lola. Introduce new songs or songs you sing at home together.

Free Play
Free play is where a child is playing independently. Free play is an unstructured activity that encourages children to use their own imagination. Always supervised. OR swap out free play with an easy craft or coloring.

Screen Time
If you would like to fit in screen time, best times to do so:
• After breakfast
• Before outdoor play
• After outdoor play
When using screen, try to make a routine time each day for predictability and boundaries. Fitting in screen time when you have a conference call or at a very busy time for you.

Helpful tips
• Get out of pjs!
• Start with breakfast closer to 8:00am.
• Break the day into small chunks.
• Rotate as many toys as possible. For example: using cars, and building blocks for morning free play. Different toys/activities for the afternoon play.

Please remember this is not going to be perfect. Do your best! This is our daycare schedule and sometimes we run a little behind or super early between those scheduled times. Hoping everyone stays home and healthy!

Practice social distancing. Stay safe and healthy!

Looking ahead to more weeks at home during the outbreak can feel pretty bleak. But with coronavirus, playdates indoors are not the solution.
