Last week the school had a visit from the amazing Pastor Elijah, who taught the students about life in Zambia, Africa!
We learned that Victoria Falls, 1 of 7 Wonders in the world, is located here. We also learned they mine for copper which we use to make pipes or even cell phones. The students were fascinated to learn they don't have Targets to buy toys, they make toys and dolls from what they find like clay, when they would break they simply make more. Friends would have "hospitals" to fix the toys. Parents would bring wire and scraps from the mines and they would make toy cars and then play or race them! The students asked a great many questions and it was an amazing visit over all!

For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

Don't forget, no school tomorrow! Here are a few great ideas to help kids learn all about voting!
(From the website parents-together.org)
Show them the signs!
Point out some of the election signs, bumper stickers, brochures, phone calls, and ads that you encounter during election season.
Have a family vote!
Show kids how voting works on a smaller scale. Have a family vote about which movie to watch, or what outdoor activity to do after you've rocked your vote! Make a ballot box and an anonymous paper voting system, then have the kids help tally votes. (You can use pictures for younger kids. Older kids can even promote their favorite choice by making a speech or sign before the family votes)
Count on it!
After the election, do a simple math activity with kids to show them how the votes were counted. For example, count out 100 Cheerios and divide them into two jars to show them the percentage of votes that went to each candidate
Welcome to November! Lots of excitement coming up this month! Due to technical issues, the calendar for November did not post this morning as scheduled. Please watch the wall for updates on all our events!
