A federal law passed in July 2025 is changing the rules about who can get Medicaid and what some members must do to keep it. You may be affected if you are ages 19 to 64, qualify for Medicaid based only on income, and are not exempt.

The Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services has created a website where members can learn more about these new rules. Visit the Kentucky Health Benefit Exchange (KHBE) website to see these changes: https://buff.ly/RYrY5PG

There is still time to apply for Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (SEBT)! With the application window open until August 15, your family has an opportunity to see if your child qualifies for a one-time $120 benefit to help buy healthy groceries while school is out.

Check if you are already approved: Many families do not even need to apply. If your child was between the ages of 6 and 17 (as of August 1, 2025) and your household received SNAP, KTAP, or Kinship Care for at least one month since July 1, 2025, they were automatically approved and those benefits have already been sent out.

How to apply: If your child wasn’t automatically enrolled, just make sure to submit your application by the August 15 deadline. Head over to kysebt.ky.gov to apply directly, or find the application through kynect at chfs.ky.gov/agencies/dcbs/dfs/pages/sebt.aspx.

Need some help? If you have questions or need assistance with your application, call 855-306-8959 or stop by your local Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) office.
