Use this page to stay informed about the events sponsored by your Springhill PTO, and of the various opportunities for you to volunteer, serve, and be a vital part in keeping Springhill a place for our children to Study, Prepare, Excel, and Succeed!
Each and every parent/ involved family member of a student at Springhill Elementary, is a member of the PTO. There is no joining fee! If you have a student at Springhill, you are welcomed and needed by this organization! For those who may not know, the PTO is a group of parents/family members and teachers of Springhill Elementary. Through our fundraising efforts and volunteer work, the PTO is able to donate funds to purchase equipment to make school improvements, donate time to honor the staff and teachers, and provide opportunities of fun for the kids. For the PTO to be effective, it is essential to have active participation from as many parents as possible. There are endless opportunities for you to help, in both big and small ways!
Mission: The PTO strives for continued parent/family involvement in helping to build a better educational environment for our children. We also promote a school community where teachers and administrators can do their best work with the extra resources we can provide!

Kindergarten registration originally scheduled for April 1 & 2 has been postponed. We will announce an alternate date at a later time.
Dear SPES Families,
The next week or two starts a new chapter in public education. There is a huge learning curve that students and teachers will be navigating together!!
As we embark on this thing called “Distance Learning,” I am asking you, and all of my FB friends, to refrain from publicly scrutinizing their children’s teachers/schools/district for the way they are teaching or the lessons they are assigning.
Please offer grace to your child’s teacher and other school personnel. I promise that educating your children is still their #1 priority. ❤️
They are about to navigate unchartered waters with little, to no prep time. This is a crisis, not a time to be playing armchair quarterback. They love our kids and will be doing their absolute best!
Please copy & paste if you are a teacher ... or support teachers.
And fellow educators, YOU’VE GOT THIS!
We believe in you! -author of post unknown
IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT KAREN WALTERS
As we begin Spring Break, I want to thank all of our families for your support during these difficult and uncertain times. I am so proud of our staff and entire community. The caring and collaborative spirit shown should be an encouragement to all of us that we will get through the days ahead together.
Governor Hutchinson announced today that schools will be closed for onsite instruction through April 17. Under the Governor’s Executive Order, the Department of Health and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education have the sole authority to make this decision. We will comply with the direction we are given in these matters.
Any school sponsored activities, whether onsite or offsite, will be canceled through April 17. This includes athletics.
When we return from Spring Break, the week of March 30-April 3, we will continue to follow our AMI Plan for days 6-10. Elementary students (grades K-5) will receive AMI packets. On Monday, March 30, elementary AMI packets will be delivered by email and placed on our website by 8:00am. Parents who do not have access to an electronic copy may pick the packet up at their school or request the packet be mailed. Secondary students (grades 6-12) will continue with their online learning through Google classroom.
During the week of April 6, all grade levels (K-12) will begin transitioning to online learning. We have been working to create a plan for students who do not have devices and/or internet service at home. The week of March 30, we will communicate more details about how this process will work. Do not be discouraged if you have not been able to access/complete assignments for these first five days. We will work with you and your student to provide what is necessary to complete classwork. Please remember that in order for a student to not be counted absent, they must complete their AMI assignments.
We are living in a season of change, but I can assure you that some things will not change. We will continue to provide your children with the best education we can although it may look different. We will continue to provide meals to the students who need food the most. We will continue to communicate with you often to address any changes. Most of all, we will continue our commitment to making this work, no matter the circumstances.
In an email to our staff earlier this week, I encouraged them to remember two words during this time of unknowns—patience and perseverance. I hope we all keep those two words close to our hearts during this time. It is important to know that with major changes ahead on how we educate your children, you will not see perfection, but you will see an amazing staff who will monitor and adjust as needed, and do whatever it takes for our students.
I hope that you and your family stay healthy, enjoy your break, and get some much needed rest.
Karen Walters, Bryant Superintendent

School districts in Arkansas have been approved for up to ten days of AMI instruction. Bryant Schools is making preparations should distance learning become necessary beyond the ten days.
We realize not all students are able to complete assignments online. We are surveying all our parents to determine which households need access to internet and/or an electronic device such computer, iPad, or Chromebook.
