Photonics continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in science. The 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine recognizes Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann, and Georg Nagel for pioneering work in optogenetics—a technique that uses light to precisely activate or inhibit specific cells, opening new ways to study neural circuits and biological function.

For those of us in the laser and photonics industry, it's exciting to see how advances in light delivery and control continue enabling breakthroughs well beyond traditional optics applications.

Power Technology, Inc. is proud to announce that we have been selected as a member of United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM)'s Special Operations Forces Rapid Acquisition Consortium for Emerging Requirements (SOF RACER).

Participation in SOF RACER gives PTI the opportunity to engage with the Special Operations community and industry partners in support of the rapid development, integration, and fielding of technologies that address emerging operational requirements.

As an ISO 9001-certified U.S. laser manufacturer, PTI brings decades of experience developing standard, modified-COTS, and custom laser solutions. Our capabilities support applications including visible and infrared pointing and illumination, laser ranging and designation, EO/IR sensor alignment and stimulation, optical communications, test equipment, and compact OEM integration for unmanned, airborne, ground, maritime, and handheld systems.

After more than five decades with Power Technology, Glenn Sullivan is retiring!

Glenn joined PTI in 1973, just four years after the company was founded. From his early days in engineering to decades spent building relationships with customers and colleagues around the world, Glenn has been part of nearly every chapter of our story.
