🏀🐾 PROUD TO ANNOUNCE! 🐾🏀

Benjamin Russell High School is proud to announce Coach Fernando Johnson as our Head Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Coach!

Coach Johnson brings 9 years of coaching experience and a passion for developing young athletes both on and off the court. His coaching journey began at the Boys & Girls Club and Cooper Recreation Center, where he discovered his passion for mentoring youth through basketball.

In 2020, Coach Johnson founded the Real Deal Steppers (RDS) AAU Basketball Program, which has continued to grow while helping countless student-athletes develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game.

Before pursuing coaching full-time, Coach Johnson spent 13 years as an over-the-road truck driver, demonstrating the same dedication, discipline, and work ethic that he now brings to the basketball court every day.

For the past three years, he has proudly served as an assistant coach with the Benjamin Russell Girls Basketball Program, helping build a winning culture. Now, he steps into his new role as Head Junior Varsity Girls Coach, ready to continue developing the next generation of Lady Wildcats.

One message Coach Johnson constantly shares with his players is:

“The hardest part is showing up. Let’s make today count and continue stacking days. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. Let’s work, ladies!”

Congratulations, Coach Fernando Johnson! We are excited to see your leadership, passion, and commitment continue to make a lasting impact on the Lady Wildcats program.

📣 WELCOME TO THE WILDCAT FAMILY! 🏀🐾

Radney Jr. High School is proud to announce Coach Calandra Brock as our new Girls Basketball Head Coach! 🤍❤️🩶

Coach Brock brings 11 years of coaching experience, working with athletes of all age levels throughout Roanoke, Alabama, and has been part of four championship teams. 🏆🏆🏆🏆

Off the court, Coach Brock is just as committed to developing young people. She is a Special Education teacher who previously taught math for five years, and she is also the proud mother of six children.

When it comes to the game she loves, Coach Brock says it best:

“Basketball is my heart. I’m at my best when I’m on or near the court!” ❤️🏀

We are excited about the experience, passion, leadership, and championship mentality Coach Brock will bring to our Lady Wildcats program.

All 3 of Your Lady Wildcats Girls Basketball Programs had the opportunity to participate at Troy University yesterday in their annual Team Camps and what a time it was🔥‼️‼️💯
Such a awesome time playing Great Competition🔥🔥🏀🏀‼️💯

Combined, all 3 teams went 6-3 on the day which is another sign that the program is moving forward and the work is being put in🔥🔥💯

Let us also pause and give a Special Shout Out to Coach Bonkey Johnson and Coach Ellis for stepping in coaching the Middle School Girls on yesterday 🔥🔥💯 Coach Johnson and Coach Ellis, coached with passion and the girls responded! We appreciate them‼️‼️🔥🔥

Everyone as a whole did a AWESOME JOB and we couldn’t be PROUDER‼️💯
