🎉 We're honored to share that Bilingual Generation has been selected as one of the seven inaugural Education Leaders of Color Innovation for Learning Fund grantees.

This investment will support the Bili Biliteracy Initiative, our work to help multilingual children thrive in school without losing connection to their languages, cultures, families, and communities.

Through this partnership, we'll continue expanding culturally affirming biliteracy tools, strengthening educator capacity, and building deeper connections between classrooms and families so more multilingual learners experience the joy, belonging, and academic success they deserve.

✨ We're deeply grateful to EdLoC for believing in this vision, and to the educators, families, students, partners, and researchers who have helped shape this work from the very beginning.

This recognition is a reminder that multilingualism is not a barrier to overcome. It is a strength to cultivate. 🌱

🌿 A Little Wellness Break

This July, we'll be slowing down a little.

A couple of our core team members are taking a well-deserved wellness break, which means you'll notice fewer posts from us over the next few weeks.

As an organization that champions language, culture, and community, we also believe in caring for the people behind the work. Rest isn't a pause on our mission, it's part of what helps us continue showing up with creativity, intention, and joy.

While our social media channels may be a little quieter than usual this month, our commitment to celebrating multilingualism and raising children who are proud of their heritage languages remains as strong as ever.

Thank you for being part of this community and for giving us the space to recharge. We'll be back soon with fresh stories, resources, and lots more to share.

Until then, keep speaking, keep learning, and keep creating spaces for multilingualism and bilingualism to thrive.

Some of the best language lessons don't happen at a desk.

They happen while watching fish, taking a walk, cooking together, or asking a hundred "why?" questions.

Children don't separate language from life, they learn words through moments, curiosity, and connection.

The conversation doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to keep going.

So the next time you're out with your child, describe what you see, ask questions, tell stories, and let your heritage language become part of the memory.

Because raising bilingual children isn't about creating more lessons, it's about creating more moments. 💛

What changes when children grow up believing their heritage language belongs to them?

Not something they have to perfect. Not something they need permission to speak. Not something they can lose forever.

Just something that is theirs.

In our episode, Racializing the Latinx Experience and Language Learning Without Shame, our guest Gloria Rosario Wallace reminds us that language is not something we must earn. It is part of our identity, our history, and our connection to family and community.

Too often, multilingual children grow up believing that not speaking their heritage language perfectly makes them less connected to their culture or community. But when we shift the conversation from judgment to belonging, we create space for language learning, cultural pride, and stronger intergenerational connections.

Dr. Gloria Rosario shares a powerful perspective on reclaiming language without shame and embracing multilingualism as a strength.
