Parents & Guardians,
On October 4, 2021, at Clarendon School District Two, there were three (3) Covid-positive cases: Two were at Manning High School and one was at Manning Primary School at MES. There were a total of sixteen (16) students quarantined and two (2) students isolated at Manning High School, and three (3) students quarantined and one (1) student isolated at Manning Primary School. In total, there were nineteen (19) students quarantined and three (3) students isolated per SC DHEC guidelines. District nurses called the parents/guardians of all students who were exposed. The impacted areas have been cleaned and disinfected per CDC and SC DHEC guidelines.
Clarendon School District Two remains dedicated to maintaining the safest possible environment for our staff and students. We respectfully request our families to please keep your children home if they are ill or if they have a known exposure to Covid-19. Any parent/guardian who is unsure if they should send a child to school may call any district nurse.
While we acknowledge the concern and frustration of our students and families, please understand that according to the SC Department of Education, “Districts/schools are not permitted to offer only virtual instruction unless the district/school can no longer safely operate and provide face to face instruction due to staffing shortages resulting from COVID-19 or similar infectious disease. Should staffing shortages exist and the school/district feels it cannot safely offer face to face instruction, the school/district should contact the regional DHEC office and allow public health officials to assess the situation and provide a recommendation on operations…” “...The school/district should also notify the SCDE prior to announcement of the move to temporary virtual only instruction.” We will continue to remain vigilant in providing instruction to our students in the safest environment possible.
